Okay i'm not exactly new. But i still am bumbling around in MWO like any newbie.

I have a question. After the disastrous Archer i'm longing for a new mech.

i have 28mil Cbills and 12K MC. All weights and both sides are fair game. Keep in mind i do like fast mechs and lights but don't mind slower mechs that bring the hurt.

Fire away and i'll mention if any that are suggested are owned by me i'll let you know.

You should really start by telling us what you own and what you feel you do best in.

That said, get a vindicator.
Why? It is possibly one of the worst mechs in the game, so if you do well in it, then you know you are a really good pilot.

Warhammer, Rifleman and Maurader are still out there for 20 bucks a pack (way better than MC prices)

Try stormcrows yet? If so how's about one of the new mastery bundles. Locust let's you ride the edge man. Nothing faster or lighter out there.

The archerpocolypse has me running my hellbringers and my cataphract OXP to close with the LRM builds and shred'em. Shadowcats a spiffy little archer killer as well.

I'd bet you would like the Cicada or Stormcrow. They are both fast-ish and powerful mechs. I haven't done the math but the Stormcrow is supposedly the biggest bang per ton in the game, and its an Omni-mech so you can kit it however you like.

How about the Executioner? I've been playing one as of late, (95ton assault with MASC).. saving for my 3rd now, and i am having a blast in it. It plays like a heavily armored mobile heavy, that can truck over 90KPH for sure bursts and has JJ's. It is very mobile for an assault. It carries similar load outs to timbers. Things like ERLL+PPC's or UAC20+ lasers, or double UAC10's, you can also boat energy, and even run some SRM builds. Over all i'd put it right up there with a stalker as being a great assault, now that it has the MASC buff. To be fair, i never played it before, but i find it darn fun.

Jester, you said you have a catapult, and the jester is one of my favorite mechs. 6 hard point energy boat, a 2LL's + 4 MPL's, dual AMS with 3 tons + BAP, and about 100KPH with jump jets.. (you can drop the ams and ammo, for even more speed, but i find the AMS helps in PUG's) Yup great mech! I bought this mech for 50%, and it has been worth every cent.. stack it with premium and you can pull in 350-450k with a great match..Very worthwhile hero

Normally i would say urbie, but since you seem to be experienced in the game, I will instead point you to the battlemaster

I'm kinda full with Lights and mediums. (though i don't have all of the mechs in those weights i'm overflowing with mechs of those weights)

I'm interested in what people may suggest for Heavies and Assaults. Though i don't seem to do well in Assaults.

The best assualt in the game is the Direwolf, no question. You need real good positioning though and in solo pug you can get left to die alone on certain maps, but the shear damage it can put out is worth it.

The Maulers are also really good

BNC-3M is pretty fun. You will need to elite it to get full benefits, otherwise it runs really hot. Can wait for a Champion sale and pick up the C model. I run mine with 380XL, 5 lpl's and 2 sl's. Thought the Champion came with a 380XL, but smurfy is saying 350STD. Maybe they changed it.

Ebon Jag is a really fun mech, but fairly fragile also.

Stormcrow is pretty fun also.

For Mastery bundles these are the few i'm looking at.

Lights: Spider and Commando.

Medium: none.

Heavy: Dragon and Cataphract.

Assault: Stalker, Battlemaster.

mind you these are only what i'd get in the way of mastery bundles. There are others that don't have a mastery bundle.

Lots of laser meta builds.
Stalker is also good.
Spider over commando.
The Dragon is not very good.
Cataphract is ok-ish.

For assaults I use Zeus, Highlander, Mauler, King Crab and Victor.

Mauler can do nearly anything across its variants with 6 ballistic on one 6 missiles on another and 6 energy on another.
Great for boating dakka in particular, it can boat 5 AC5s if built right. Average hitboxes and is quite wide. I wouldnt use XLs in these.

Zeus is like a light assault, It can move at 70kph and still pack a punch. They tend to be good with mixed loadouts, though one of them can boat 6 energy weapons. They have great hitboxes as well and are fairly small. Apparently you can use XLs in these but i prefer tankiness.

Highlanders I use with mixed builds as well mostly as brawlers but i have one sniper. Similar hardpoint amounts to Zeus, though its big and has average hit boxes. JJ are nice, with the Heavy Metal having the most. I dont use XLs in these. They tank damage reasonably well.

King Crab is really good for firepower, one variant can boat 6 ballistics, another has 4 each of energy and missiles. Really good for torso twisting the arms are great for shielding as well. Decent hitboxes, but really wide and short. Can poke over hills really well. I wouldnt use XLs in this. Can be really tank, but also a bullet magnet.

Victors ive only just got, but they seem to be are all round worse version of the Zeus, it weighs the same but Victors are around a third larger with average hitboxes. Similar hardpoints though the missile hardpoints are gimped but they have more ballistic hardpoints. The JJ are quite good though. I dont know about XLs in these.

Hope this helps.
