Yeah I don't understand why folks keep linking XL builds unless you really intend to never get shot at directly. It is way too easy to shoot off a side torso especially when you can identify it so well.

If you change the MPLs to MLs, and then drop the two Heat Sinks, you can have a total of 650 missiles and upgrade to a 340XL engine. If you stick to firing only your SRMs in a brawl you will be at 48% heat efficiency. Once out of ammo you can switch to the MLs. Both your build and mine are too hot IMO to alpha regularly.

Remember when elites are done, 5% cool down for the weapons with a few quirks that you can add at 12% LRM Cool down and 10% LRM range extension. So the most cool down you will have is 17% for missiles on this chassis. The LRM 15's with LL's works on three of the chassis, so if you are looking for a decent build for the 2R and hero the LRMs and LL builds work great, including on many chassis from mediums (only one LL) to the awesome.
Advanced sensor range, BAP with the Command Console allows for targeting out to 1250 m. This can affect how PUGs react to the enemy team. If you are on team speak you normally can just call out this information and people that you normally play with act accordingly. Then again there is a tone when you are targeted and some of people do not know that, but others will react and get out of line of sight.
2 Artemis LRM 20's, 8 tons of ammo, 3 ML, TAG BAP, Command console, 280 XL, DHS.
You can switch out the TAG for a ML, but there are many ECM mechs that can shut you down.
2 Artemis LRM 15's, 2 Artemis LRM 5's, 8 tons of ammo, 3 ML, TAG, BAP, Command console, 280 XL, DHS.
this allows for a better rate of fire with chain fire.
2 Artemis LRM 15's, 2 LL, ML, TAG, BAP, Command Console, 280 XL, DHS Here you can use 6tons of ammo or with removing the command console use 8 tons of ammo with a seconds DHS. Also remove the CC, ML, TAG and add a third LL.
Then the 4 LRM 10's. here you vary it with artemis or CC, and more or less ammo The firing rate here is what you want in chain fire so even not having artemis and CC is acceptable.
We could go into the 4 LRM 15's or 4 LRM 20's, but you are getting rid of back up weapons, armor and engine size with these builds to carry enough ammo. They are interesting to run.
Remember 40 LRMs can one shot lights running away (silly lights running with 4 armor on the back) or locusts from just about any angle and artemis and TAG stack. Normally I would fire two volleys at Locusts, but I am in the habit of firing one just to see if I can kill it in one volley. It happens about a quarter of the time.

You don't need to alpha regularly - you need to pop out of cover 8 times and unload in the face of someone. And if you are like most of us you have 400+ cool shots from event rewards just lying around to cover the heat if you need to engage for more than 1 alpha.
People and their fear of XL engines though.... really can't help you there, until you make the decision to load xls in most of your mechs and learn how to use terrain and timing you'll never understand the advantage to being able to offload twice as much damage in half as much time.

I'll be honest I'd give them all the money to put a giant rainbow on my kodiac's tummy.
I suspect if PGI releases a "camo" pattern that is solid color primary covering most of the mech, then solid color for just muzzle secondary, then solid color for tummy tertiary, along with a bunch of different belly decals, they'd make bank when the Kodiak comes out, and be at no risk for copyright infringement since PGI themselves didn't do the infringing.
They'd be even safer if the belly decals were things like "Pew Pew Pew," "Mushroom Cloud," "Splat," etc.

Well that's your own fault for playing a mech that supposed to be a close range splat brawler with LPL/LL and less than half as much firepower as you should have.
