Definitely top game on my list, all I can say is Davion/Steiner Faction!!! Can't wait to buy this game, taking things back to where it needs to be. Would also love to see a cross genre battletech game one day. Mixing MechCommander, Mechwarrior, Mech Assault, Crescent Hawks Revenge, and X3 terran conflict style space combat/Economy. Would be a generational franchise game, that would be a 10 year development project for sure.

i have only done a short search for this information, just how will the clans be introduced?
i have not found a mention of it and that may be because i have not looked in the right places, or it has not been released yet.

Probably give us at least 2 to 4 months of getting cozy before introducing the clan mechs. I hope they add the weapon power increase, as clan tech is longer ranger, durable, lighter, operate cooler, open modded, and hit harder than IS counterparts. an IS PPC vs. a Clan ER PPC should be different in range, weight, heat, and damage. The IS ER PPC should should not have a minimum range penalty like the regular IS PPC though.

i was quite sure that i was going to be a lone wolf in this game because there were no groups that i would want to join.
but after reading this i have my doubts.
if this is representative of the members of the Northwind Highlanders i will take a look at this group in consideration of joining them.

i could fight along side warrior poets of this caliber feel like i had found people i could think of as peers.

Of all the quotes to grab :D , it in no way reflects upon the Winbourne Highlanders, except to show that they like sincere folk, and are willing to look beyond the odd nut, if they are willing to wear a kilt -_- . And it is The Windbourne Highlanders, I have not changed my Signiture yet. Go to the recruiting area http://mwomercs.com/...ne-highlanders/

I've been screaming for 2 years for Cryptic to add anything even close to this on Star Trek.

It sounds great, it sounds like your going to treat gamers like adults. Cryptic treat the STO community like Trekkies and it makes me sick to say I put 2 years of play plus a lot of money into the game. STO is a good game but not worth so much money.

It does not have the edge in it that MW:O will obviously have, with no good reason why not other than a poorly handled title.

Please do not change what is laid out in this text. This is exactly why pro gamers need, the players who will put money into the game.

Is the client free or do you need to buy it at launch? I know the game is free to play, I was wondering if their client would be free like WoT is. Pretty sure it will be.

All I know, once I get a job and cash, I'm going premium.

Free to play = no money needed to play, what you're asking about is free multiplayer after purchase, which isn't the same at all

That sounds like an amazing system.
Guess I'd better dust of my sticks and start practicing.

is there already somewhat of a preliminary list of what faction units one will be able to join per house (and can you share that info)?

No lone wolf option = I do not support the game.

The solution is to get rid of the arbitrary disadvantages for lone wolves, not to get rid of the lone wolf option. Lone wolves have enough of a disadvantage naturally from being out-numbered (locally and often strategically also). That's what "teamwork" is, after all--ganging up on a single lone wolf, one at a time. Two lone wolves are two separate battles for a two-man team, each of which battles is a two-on-one. So we lone wolfers don't need any more disadvantages manufactured for us. And don't even think about trying to force us into joining a herd, 'cause it won't work.

I don't think "Lone Wolf" is what you think it is. Lone Wolf is not the same as Solo play. You can just sign up for a house, play solo and get all the benefits of the house. Doesn't require you to join any player organizations. As a WoW analogy Lone Wolf would mean you were neither Alliance nor Horde.

The Bounty Hunter would like to have words with you.
Same for Kai Allard Liao and about 90% of the Solaris VII Fighters.

Edit: And behaviour should not be dictated by game mechanics either.

None of which would be hanging out in a warzone. Though it would be cool if they put in Solaris for Duels and Gladatorial events!

So am I extrapolating correctly that it would be difficult for a small Mercenary group to survive? or are the Matches scaled in some way?

I hope the decay rate for LPs isn't too rapid. I'd hate to go on vacation for a week, come back and find out I'd been demoted.

Perhaps recovering "lost" LPs could be more rapid than gaining "new" points?

i would also like to know if small corps of merchs can legitimately do this
say a group between 5-10 people, because me and my fellow gamers are friends and we tend to stick together in all
games and, this is 1 reason alot of them don't play WoT so much clan battles aren't doable for us altho we are all over average players
and we tend to stick to our own circle
don't get me wrong we mainly play to troll and rolf and have fun like a game should be, but randoms get a little stale at some point and it would be nice to play with a purpose linked to it.

thanks for any replies

All this looks very exciting, but I do have one heat sink of contention. This has to due with a player losing rank because they were involved in negative action. This just isn't realistic. Lets look at the military as a basic guideline. While some military personal have been demoted while serving this usually had nothing to do with their performance in battle (with the exception of the Commanding officer who was often removed from command). Those who perform well in battle are promoted, those who don't perform simply don't get promoted. Most demotions were or are the result of insubordination or other rule infractions. About the only other time a soldier might suffer a demotion is in a post war down sizing when the military no longer needed so many of a particular rank.

I would then suggest that those who earn a rank, not loose it simply because they did battle with a superior force and lost or because they suffered a string of defeats. At a mimimum lost of rank ought to come 3 or 4 times slower than it takes to gain it.
