As a new player I just wanted to say the PSR dealy moves you up way too fast. The devs should think about creating more tier brackets or slowing down progress between tiers quite a bit.

Probably true. It's basically an XP bar, but moving up to 2 in a month probably is indicative of above average skill. (And or lot's of play on successful teams since sinning is the big mover and shaker to PSR, or Meta Mechs, or a combo of all the above, etc)
I know I'm taking the scenic route by my insistence on playing lore based bad mechs. But I'm (mostly) having fun on my trip, so it's all good!

Remove Tiers and let the matchmaker group pilots based on their statistical performance with the specific mech they are piloting ? There should probably also be a modifier based on the pilots "overall statistical performance".
So how many times has this been suggested, and what are the standard counter arguments ?

I dunno. It might work. I think one of the biggest things is one needs to find a way to separate "Group" and "solo" performance.
Part of the joke with PSR is that it's based mostly on Wins. If you maintain a positive W/L it's pretty much impossible to drop, and it's hard to stay even.
Thing is, you drop in a large group, you are far more likely to win than lose, on average, and thus, Group Drops can seriously skew results with PSR.
Only real issue I could see with you idea is that it be prohibitive in amount of code work? But I don't even know that. I do know PSR is better than Elo was, but it's still leaves much to be desired.

If the correct stats are recorded/tracked, then we are talking pretty mundane BI.
Getting the mm to handle a "random" player pool in real-time might cause some problems though.
And my "spider sense" is tingling, which means that i probably overlooked something totally broken.

No, you did not overlook anything.
Sadly PGI and a large majority of their fanboys think anything more than a simple 2+2 requires black magic codework and is very complicated for them...
The best thing fanboys came up with so far is that it will take a lot of games for a skill per chassis to reach a true valid number representing your skill.
The thing they love to forget is that it will be valid "EVENTUALLY". yet PSR will NEVER be valid... EVER.
The answer is PGI is well aware of it... they just don't care and don't want to spend time on something that returns no income...
you got stomped?... better get gud or join a unit is the best answer you can get around here.
sry if i sound a bit edgy... i'm playing right now... and the stupidity level in games is trough the sky. I don't understand why PGI is catapulting new players into T2/T3.

I.G.P was the old bugbear that was blamed for everything, now the fail is firmly at the Lead developers door, and he has to either shape up and get a clue, or Russ has to bite the bullet, grow a spine, and get rid of his friend and business partner, if he cares about the future of this game.
Sorry Navid I understand your angry, and many people are, but I don't remember a single person actively defending PSR after the first month, there were people that said give it time and it will sort itself out in the first couple of weeks, but I think now everyone here, bitter vet or white knight has nothing positive to say about PSR, as its better than nothing, isn't a defence as in this case Nothing, would be no better than what we have.

Don't worry.
I'm under the impression that the Tier system can't handle the new Steam player base.
People (including myself) are being carried forward way to fast.
If they would just remove the loss/win modifier from the equation, that would be a huge improvement.

So new players see big jumps with just a few wins
Veterans see very small movements.
They need to make the movements in PSR more uniform regardless of number of matches played.
