JR7-F

Main points:

XL280 for acceptable speed for a light mech
2 PPCs on the right arm for 20-60 pinpoint damage
2 Small Lasers on the left arm for emergency up close damage
1 Jumpjet for maneuverability

Use your speed to your advantage and shoot/duck for cover. The 2 PPCs mean dealing 20 damage to a single component, and you can quickly deal 60 damage over 3 shots without overheating. Accurate shots will often result in destroyed components.

The 2 Small Lasers are on cooldown and whenever an opponents gets within the 90m range.

Armor is on the light side, but your main focus is to take a shot and go out of sight anyways.

If you're going to do this, you would be better off using a RVN-2X. Same speed, smaller frontal profile while firing, and better energy quirks. Or even the PNT-9R, which is actually designed to use PPCs.

I agree with Fox, though I'd add Cicadas can do this as well (and it's a classic cicada style build). The Raven, Panther, and Jenner get the advantage of more degrees of freedom using an arm mount though. With the Raven also getting a high arm mount to fit the weapons in. Also switching to ERPPCs is often more useful than running those 2 SLs. If someone gets up close two SLs won't help you much.

The RVN-2X doesn't have a jumpjet, so you'd have to be more careful terrain-wise.

I find that ERPPCs just generate too much heat. You can barely do 2 volleys of er-ppcs if you wait a small bit vs 3 volleys of ppcs. Plus, if I do max out on heat, I can use the small lasers all I want up close.

It's a trade off sure, but I've personally never found IS small lasers worth using. SPLs slightly (I run them in a few wolfhounds), but not straight SLs. Probably more than 2 years ago though I ran a dual ERPPC Cicada to mastery. Obviously it's a medium and so has a bit more tonnage (depending on engine), but the concept is still sound. That said I do run a BJ-3 with 2xPPCs and SPLs as backups, but that build can do as much damage with the SPLs as the PPCs. Sadly 2 SLs does not equal 2 PPCs though, and the smart person would close on you if the had heavier weapons or close range weapons to minimize damage from you.

Oh and personally I might opt for the Raven 4X over the 2X. I like the 4X as a ERLL sniper already, and it has JJs like the Panther and Jenner. The sad part is that even with radar dep you are no less visible at range, so your vulnerable to return fire on 'short' maps like Veridian bog which has so much clutter.

Unfortunately, with HoverJets being the only type of JJ available to lights, you need at least 3 to make any reasonable amount of lift unless you abuse static mesh slingshotting. This 1.5 tons is not something that can be easily found in a light, especially if you decide to go with a double PPC setup. It is viable for 2LL or 2ERLL RVN-4X builds, but not so much for a 2x PPC one, which has 4 tons more dedicated to weaponry (14 tons vs 10 tons).

Without JJs, the RVN-2X is objectively superior to the RVN-4X for boating PPCs. The RVN-4X's biggest advantage for ERLL usage is the -30% beam duration and +30% energy range (pre-nerf). But with that reduced, you now have the following:

RVN-2X vs RVN-4X:
Energy range: +0% vs +10%
Energy cooldown: +15% vs +0%
Energy heat generation: -10% vs -0%
Laser burn duration: irrelevant

I totally ran that same build, but with a 255XL and I mount the small lasers first so the PPC's are mounted higher in either arm. Yes, there are better chassis for PPC's but I don't care for the Jenner F variant, and had to get creative. I usually chain fire PPC for heat management and suppressive fire.

Also keep in mind that without heat reduction quirks, running more than 1 PPC in a light runs about as hot as the surface of the sun.

I'd suggest dropping the second PPC and getting more heatsinks + close-range defense weapons instead. You actually get better DPS doing this because the limiting factor is heat, not the amount of firepower you can bring to bear on the target.

In Beta that is all we had were Jenner F's with 6 Small Lasers, before they utterly destroyed the Smalls it was a force to be reckoned with. Now they are crap. That and Standard engines. Oh man the cries were loud when XL's got put into the game.

I have run 2 PPC's and 2 ER PPC Jenners before. They are fun for a few matches but are far from sustaining. If I see a joke build like this on a light, I will usually make them a priority target just to make the enemy pilot realize how bad the decision was to bring it.

If you really want to piss some people off
