After 6 months I am back in the IS

Wondering if I can get some recommendations for a new to me IS Mech
Something I can use for solo pug drops and for CW/faction warfare


Right now I have close to equal numbers of Clan and IS Mechs
I admit I am a poor judge of Mechs starting with the death trap Jager I bought as my first Mech

You need to let people know what kind of fighting you like to do.

Otherwise people would recommend Urbanmechs.

Which can work.

I did not want to limit anyone’s recommendations so I left that part out

I will closely at all suggestions

For example I have no problem recommending the little Ice Ferret to anyone

Jagermech (DD), Mauler (MX90), Stalker (4N), Battlemaster, Blackjack, Firestarter are all good choices IMO. The global range quirk nerf had killed a lot of IS laser mechs in CW but dakka mechs are now in season. It is all about getting in the face of the Clanners and dealing sustained damage.

Never wanted a Jagermech but I started just leveling up all the mechs for something to do. To this day the JM6-S with stock weapons is by far the most powerful mech that my wife and I have found.

I got like 7 days in one of my Jagers lol

I hardly touch it these days, probably need to update the load out

When I use my JM6-DD I often get the top spot on my team for both match points and damage.

If you like assault mechs, Mauler, Banshee, Zeus might be worth looking at. If you like lasers, maybe Black Knights?

I was leaning toward the Mauler's but on the drop I just did some people did not like them

You've played almost 3k matches in Jagers and still have less than 1 kdr. I think not a single mech will work for you. Just f****ing uninstall

BL-6-KNT w/ 3 LPL and 5 Mediums, XL350

CRB-27B w/ 6 Med Pulse, STD255

JR7-D w/ 4 Mediums and 2 SRM4, XL300 (if you dont mind spending RL cash get an Oxide 4 SRM4 XL295)


Those are my current recommendations for IS mechs. One of each flavor for ya...

Mauler is good mech in the right hands, gotta be a decent fatty pilot as most good build without XL are slow (and XL is death trap in them, more so then normally )

Atlas S or DDC. Stalker Misery if you have MC to burn.

Only IS heavy I use much is the Jager. I have a fun build I do alright in mostly for dealing with lights and finishing off heavies and assaults. 2 LBX10 and 3 SSRM2. Has a standard engine too but its large enough to go 87 I think. Had many blow out my ST and begin to disengage because they thought that was it for me. I only really use it in CW now because I solo drop in quick play with Assaults only....and the occasional Timberwolf.

A solid choice, it will serve you well, I'm just not really much of an Assault pilot, so mine mostly gathers dust in the hanger.

I much prefer my WHM-6R, she eats things alive in close with the CIWS... PPC's till about 100m, then switch to SPL+MG+ASMR4, and take of ST's like they are made of tinfoil.

Really shouldn't be hating on Jagers. The DD is pure meta. Enjoy the soft gooey CT on your new Maulers.
