What good does knowing that 'C2' is orange? You don't know who it is, you don't know what 'Mech it is, and you don't know where it is.

Better to look around at your friendlies and press Q as it shows what 'Mech it is, the health percentage, and the distance to it. I do that all the time so I can see if I need to provide support or not.

Fair enough if you cant keep track of 11 mechs that you have, normally, looked at for +60s on the connection screen. But i can.
Would the feature bother you, even if you didn't have any use for it ?
The "mockup" is just an illustration.... it could be done in a lot of ways using 12 indicators.

The problem i have with Q is that you don't know if the fx.6 mechs you can see, with your 180deg arch (+- whatever), is everyone alive or if there are more friendlies behind you.
Then you are left with the options of turning around, searching the corners of your minimap or using TAB... all of which could get you killed.

Another thing that is needed is better IFF indicators the 'Doritos' are too high up get close to an ally that appears out of nowhere and you have no idea if ti was friend or foe.

I would fix that with a green outline or something. Like L4D does. And friendlies only of course.
But it could be very cool on targets also, during the "out of sight decay" period.

Personally I would prefer the lance display to be extended to the whole company.

Restrict it to Company Commander and Lance Commanders so people actually take up these slots if they find the information useful

I initially did a "mock up" with the entire team, and it was really crowded. One could argue that the pilot names can be removed. Then it would only be about 33% bigger than the current lance display.
The proposal i have posted was the best compromise i could come up with. I like that its only one additional line.

I find it very useful, but i wouldn't like having a commander role in order to get the display.

Perhaps have your suggested display as the default but you can call up individual lance displays by toggling using F1, F2 and F3 for each lance OR F1 to toggle whole company display on or off instead of having to open the Battle Map as is currently the case?

The reason why I suggested restricting it to on command positions is that only some people would be interested enough to want to look at it so why clutter the view of others who are not interested in it. Also, it gives people a reason to take one of the command slots.

A customizable HUD would be sweet. And sure. whatever saves me the dangers of TAB in hectic situations.
