That's a tough one.... are we talking one mech, or one build on one mech?

- For one mech, it's hard to go wrong with a mech that can mount a variety of weapons, like an Atlas, Mauler, King Crab, or Jager-A. Any of those mechs can handle a variety of builds so you wouldn't get too bored.

- For one build on one mech, that's really tough. I'm partial to the AC20 Hunchback. It's suffering a lot lately in the long-range meta, but it is just such an overgunned beast when it works. I also admit to liking dakka, so Jagers, Maulers, and the Banshee 3E come to mind. Than, there's the triple PPC Awesome 8Q, which is also effective and fun, provided brawling is not the meta of the moment.

Long story short, for one build, if brawling is viable, AC20 Hunchback. If not, triple PPC Awesome 8Q. If nobody knows or it keeps changing, some sort of dakka boat (Jager, Mauler, or Banshee 3E)

I can't take just one because, by doing so, you're talking about limiting your options as to what job you can do. For me, it is this:

Wolfhound 1A - ER Large Laser, 4 Medium Lasers, TAG
Cicada 3M - ER Large Laser, 3 Medium Lasers, ECM; BJ-3 - PPC, 5 Medium Lasers
Warhammer 6R - 2 PPCs, UAC5, 4 Medium Lasers
Awesome (until the Cyclops comes out) - PPC, 2 Large Pulse Lasers, 3 Medium Lasers

Arctic Cheetah with five or six ER mediums, no contest. Requires smart positioning, cunning, some steady aim, and patience. But oh boy the rewards of 42-point alphas from an ECM many-JJ mech traveling 140 kph... priceless.

Boring answer is probably an EBJ, can do anything. Doesn't really appeal to me though... So for the feel I'd go for a WHM or MAL.

MAD-3R. 3xAC5, 4xML. It's my favorite heavy in the game. Good at all ranges and can hammer thru a BK or Timber with the ACs while they overheat on laser vomit.

If the AWS-8Q didn't have the problems it does in this game, that'd be #1. Lived that mech ever since Tabletop.
