The picture in the OP is funny. It was ment to display the death of Kilbourne Jorgenssen (sp?) I think. Problem is - he was an Elemental, and he was Khan. While an Elemental piloting a 'Mech is not unheard of, a Khan piloting a second line 'Mech after the Invention of Omni'Mechs is.

The picture in the OP is incorrect, but the reason is different than you think:
1) Elemental piloting a 'Mech is okay - there have been such cases in the BattleTech universe.
2) A Khan piloting a BattleMech after the invention of OmniMech is okay - there have been such cases in the BattleTech universe.
3) The greatest problem is that the illustration in the OP shows a pair of 'Mechs that debuted decades "after" the depicted battle ... Posted Image

No, that's a Warhawk. Look at the energy mounts, the shape of the "roof" just over the Atlas' arm, the shape and size of the bits flying off the side just below the punching arm. Artist probably just messed up the placement of the missile pod.

Warhawk through and through.

I think they messed up the arm entirely now. I always thought that was a vulture until I really looked at it.

Now I can see the cockpit of the Warhawk, just hard to tell because that does not even look close to a warhawk, all because of that arm :/

Yeaaaaaah.... Unless, PGI really ***** up its hitboxes (very unlikely, due to the way the orthos looks like, with those massive arms and non-distinct torsos), it's going to be the new king of Assault mechs.

doubt this very much, it will have zero quirks and just be a nice big fat dmg pinata

Well, Direwolf doesn't really have any quirks either and it seems like the Kodiak will have better hitboxes (unless PGI really **** it up, i mean)

And the Direwolf ARGUABLY is the best assault currently in the game

It's basically correct. Remember, it's an H. The missile rack is making the arm look weird to you, but if you crop that out the arm is pretty much stock. Also remember that those are large pulse lasers, not ER PPCs, so the forearm is also different than what it looks like on the Prime.

The only thing really "wrong" about it is the elbow joint, but a lot of the art for the Warhawk doesn't show good angles for the elbow. This is a 20-yr old piece of art from the BattleTech TCG... we didn't have Sarna back then.

agree hit boxes "should" be far better then DWF and WHK, i definitely argue against DWF being the best assault in game especially with the pilot skill tree nerf

That's exactly what I'm talking about. The part where the arm is. That looks nothing like a Warhawk arm.

Here's a warhawk. Look at how the arm is.

Now compare it with the arm with the Atlas smashing it:

Artist made that arm wayyy too long IMO.

Not really anymore, the nerfing of many of its tools on top of the buffing certain mechs that changed the meta has relegated it to a niche mech, not really the best assault it was prior to the rebalance.

I still think you're mostly being fooled by the LRM-10 attached to the top of the arm above the shoulder joint. It does look like the distance bewteen the joints themselves (shoulder and elbow) is a little bit longer, but not by a huge amount. It's the LRM-10 assembly attached to the top of the arm that makes it look extra-long.

I mean, the upper arm is a little bit too long, but it's hard to say for sure because Big Ben may be ripping it off entirely. It does look like the elbow is at waist height when it should be a little higher than that.

What I was talking about, though, is the elbow joint itself. The elbow in the picture isn't offset like a true Warhawk elbow.

Fair enough, I could be wrong, considering the angle and situation it was in. :)

Also, he walked through a building. We all know that buildings are impervious to weapons fire and collision damage. Only trees and Mechs can be damaged by high-power Lasers and explosive munitions.

It is not arguable the best. There are plenty of case studies that prove it is NOT the best assault mech in the game.
