I swear, I can't wait to get this. I'm probably going to be widely disappointed by it but, anything that comes into the game that shuts down the plethora of people that run 3+ Large Laser builds or the 3x3 Large Pulse/Medium Laser vomit is going to make me happy. Even if it is bad, as long as it semi-punishes people for doing this is a good thing. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind, hate, or despise energy builds. I've been playing Awesomes and Cicadas since Beta. What I mind and what is really bad for the game, in general, is the lack of a system that prevents people from taking the biggest weapon possible and just spewing it all over the place without any drawback. The lack of heat penalties, to-date, is why people do this. Here is to hoping we finally get some semblance of it.

3 large lasers too much for you? Can't handle 27 damage? Find a new game. Jesus. What do you want people to take? 2 Machine guns, an AC2, an lrm 10, an SRM 4, and 2 medium lasers?

Technically, that assumes they'll let you fire beyond your power limit which may not even be possible. Similar to how you cannot fire more than two Gauss Rifles at one time and there's a short, half or full second delay afterwards before you can fire again. I imagine Power Draw will be similar to MASC though.

This is exactly how it will work, in fact it will probably be worse without the # of weapons cap. 4-6 LL and hide.

Exactly.

My post was both a comical homage to Sycocys's point here and the fact that that's exactly what I'll do because PGI failed to give me a reason not to...

Awesome's original design is a PPC boat. Russ said they might lower the heat of PPCs.

Standard pug queue build. I don't see the problem. Only 1 fire group, I just alpha that bad boy. 32 pts alpha, dps of almost 12!

Ah, so why don't they just rename the change to "no more alpha strikes". Isn't that what people are most upset over anyway?

Power Draw, Ghost Power, Ghost Draw and/or Ghost Heat II all have better names. Posted Image

Oh no. PGI had an 'idea' on how to 'balance' the heat system without modifying dissipation or capacity, didn't they?

Ghost Balance.

Boom.

One name for a dozen feature changes.

So do we have any kind of details on the new ghost heat replacement? Can we get something other than Heat penalties?

I feel like temporarily increasing weapon cooldown would be easier and still allow for alpha striking, but at a cost.

The ironic thing is, that elegant solution is undeserving of being labelled a Ghost Mechanic.

You realize that it will probably just be a tweak to current system???
I was stoked for the great 'rebalance' before the Steam release, promising info warfare, and ecm mechanic changes. All it turned out to be was a %50 decrease to ECM radius and a mix up of half baked quirks. That 'rebalance' created the IS ERLL imbalance, immortal Blackjacks, and epic ballistic quirks on mechs that had no ballistics. The only good that came from it was AC2 and SRM buffs.
Convoluted mechanics aside, I set my expectations low so I won't be disappointed. If they actually come up with something decent I'll be impressed.
