When we shoot mechs, they sort of just go... puff, in a shower of sparks, then proceed to fall over. Which is pretty cool, but wouldn't you like an extra BattleTech touch? Maybe... an eject pod blasting up from the mech's head?

It's purely cosmetic. We don't even really need any eject animation or anything if the devs find that too hard. Just, purely, an eject pod object shooting vertically up from a mech when it dies.

Maybe if a developer gets some free time and is bored? Posted Image

I'm sure that can be done without great difficulty. Probably using the same animation as UAV launch.

Try not to eject while under the deck in Crimson. Might leave a stain.

PGI should have a bloody animation made just for such occasion. Will jack up the immersion/hilarity factor by ten-fold.

Lol no man, imagine how the trolls would abuse it. A Lolcust would run up to you and eject into your cockpit, and then suddenly your entire screen will be just the inside of the cockpit and then a red mush on the glass. Particularly bad for Archers, since they have those low cockpits. At least wait till PGI implements the windscreen wipers first.

Kinda like in MW4 where you could NARC a cockpit so the poor bastid would only be able to see a red flashing light for half a minute

This is already implemented in the game. In CW you can eject from your mech and it will get a small eject pod animation which can be seen.

It would be nice to see this in QP as well though. Not that it will make much difference gameplay wise though.

That would be nice for those occasions when you are just running around as a weaponless stick, hiding from the enemy.
+ You preserve your life
+ you avoid giving someone a free kill
+ the round can end and noone has to wait 10 minutes for the end-of-round screen.

Yup, it really shouldn't be too hard. Like someone else said, the animation is already there. They would just need to make it appear on death. I think it would add a nice bit of immersion and make us remember there's digital people in these machines.

You just need to pilot a Catapult! It's ejection system throws you out the side instead of out the top...through a building Posted Image .

The 'Mech is also unique for having a sideways ejection system which, while generally safe, can be quite a surprise to new Catapult ]pilots.

Poor spiders....

Quote

The O/P communications system and targeting-tracking system are fully integrated in the Spider, meaning both verbal communications and sensor readings can be transmitted back to headquarters. This advanced computer set-up even includes an entertainment system for those long, lonely nights on recon duty. It also has a serious drawback, in that the system combined with the head's armor layout leaves no space for a proper ejection system: the pilot must manually reach the lower hatch on their own in order to exit the 'Mech. Many Spider pilots therefore practice quickly exiting the 'Mech during their downtime, especially those variants which carry vulnerable ammunition liable to cook-off.

Stinger pilots need a shoehorn to get into their 'Mechs.

There was an experimental air bag system for light mechs to help cushion the pilot in the event of a collision or hard weapons hit.

In the smaller light mechs, It was...um...less than successful.

Very hard to see that animation.

Maybe some mechs pilot seats extend out through the top of the mech to be accessed.

I cant wait until the eject pod encloses the pilot view with a little window and get shot out through the top of my mech! Or get the message that it wont fire like how UAV pods wont launch under cover. Not sure why AMS doesn't use the same script to not fire under cover...

Yep. Why Catapult drivers are so awesome. Isn't it the crab that can roof eject or it shoots you out the back like it's taking a dump?
