I have only played the Archer Tempest and the Raven 3L. Great mechs both of them and the ECM is just a nice bonus to have. Not as powerful as before, IMO the ECM is just right, just now.

I must say theres alot of whiney about the Archers.. Sure they could have better quirks but thats crutches, dont get used to that. Squishy CT, ST??? If you go xl for brawling srm in these mechs, you BETTER be good! I use xl on only those who have lrms.
And I must say the Tempest is a deadly machine, get an STD 300, put on medium lasers, BAP and artemis srms 4 or 6 and enjoy! Great hitboxes and can take a beating! Just close those missile doors before engaging the enemy...

I'm really surprised to see how many do use a gauss in a side torso, in a brawler chassis. you know a light hitting your back once means half mech is gone and done right?

Well, yes but that is pretty much true to all my mechs. I use about 15 armour on the back and with the structure quirks the atlas gets, it is quite survivable. Plus, you don't necessarily loose the st when the gauss goes.

I usually loose it from the front more than from the back as well. I do pretty well with it. My usual group of people plays tier 3 and matches usually go pretty well.

And to be fair, that Atlas is not a pure brawler. I use to trade range first while the rest of the team gets into position and then close up once we are pushing.
