Rule No. 1: Do not boat LRMs on Assault mechs
Rule No. 2: Do not boat LRMs on Assault mechs

Lbx20 might be a viable option now too, the last 30% buff made them usable, maybe with the tonnage to run a big load of srm to pair it.

This is not true. But Pure LRM boats are a massive nuicance no mather what chassis. You need a sufficient mobility to keep up and decent backupweapons so you dont become useless.

With IS mechs, this is quite difficult, and IMO, the BLR1S, Stalker and Mauler are one of the few who can pull decent LRM builds.

clan side it is much easier, and the kodiak spirit bear can become a powerfull LRM build.

unike most ppl, when i "boat" lrm's, i always have 20-30 dmg in energy weapons on hand. i always expect to run out of ammo, and dont feel like stopping my fight simply due to lack of ammo.

if that means running 2-3 er lrg lasers or lpl's along with lrms, so be it. also, if im limited on energy hardpoints, i wont equip a tag. would rather have an extra laser in that case.

if looking for an alpha brawler...swap the ssrms for srms...swap the uac10 for uac20...drop the engine size down...swap in 2x lpl or er lrg.

long range poke with 68 close range damage...and masc to pop out of cover and back for that 96 dmg alpha. def want a tcomp1 on the build as well.

As one of my fav'd,and most potent mechs is AS-7S armed with 4xML,AC20 and 4xALRM5 I'l going to try something similar on Spirit Bear:
4xALRM5/ALRM10
2xLPL
AC20 or LBX20

My thoughts on sprit bear are as follows.
Replace all streak 6's with srm6+art
Move the masc to the other side and install a bigger AC
Remove energy weapons and focus on ammo and cooling.
Done

So we got a 90kph 100t Clan Mech+instant acceleration with structure quirks and a 90+20(ultra) Alpha and people are suggesting it needs even more armor and ecm, while the other Kodiaks have 111+ alpha.
Yeah tards...

It's the strongest clan assault and Pay2Win. Deal with it.

Well....

SPIRIT BEAR if not MASC'd.

With MASC, just drop to a XL 385 and shave a bit of armor from the legs. Done.

What about the awesome?

4 x LRM 15's and quirked towards that and have nice speed?...
3 x LRM 15 + large lasers on the other chassis with similar stats but less focused on LRM's... etc?

So many good builds so little time.

I keep switching back and forth between brawlers and ranged skirmishers and even what you could call laser snipers.

Do I load up with UACs and SRMs or do I through own Gauss and ERLL/LPL/ERPPCs?

Do I go for High Alpha or High DPS? Both seem to be effective.

Can't wait till I unlock double basics, as yesterday was the first day I played mine I am just unlocking the basics. I imagine it will really shine, as so far the only weakness (if you can call it that) is torso twisting and spreading damage. Then again that could be my piloting skills.

And the speed! I have kept all mine running the XL400, but am tempted to make some builds with XL350, XL375, and XL385, cause that frees up a lot of tonnage and you are still decently fast for an assault. Although I will have to pick one of those and stick with that engine as I am not dropping 20 million on engines right now. LOL

Just a fun and awesome mech so far.
