Awesomes for me, too.

I like the general setup of them - an angry wall of armor with huge energy weapons and missiles - but their implementation in MWO leaves a lot to be desired. My Awesome 8Q with 3 PPC's, Std 300, DHS, and 1 medium lasers does OK, and it's close enough to Stock to feel "right," but they are a train-wreck of an assault mech overall, sadly.

I was so excited for the CDA-3F (finally a jumping Cicada!) and then so disappointed when it got here. :(

I would have mentioned the Cicada, but I don't consider them a favorite, though I would say they are, arguably, one of the worst mechs in the game. I think the only reason the Vindicator gets more deserved disgust is because it doesn't have an ECM variant because even a walking pile of scrap with ECM has uses. But Cicadas... wow... basically, you get the firepower of a Jenner with (in most cases) no jumpjets... with about twice the cross-sectional area so you can be a huge target. AND you get hitboxes that consist almost entirely of center torso and legs. All for 5 more tons over actually useful mechs... ugh.

Just as a fact check: I have driven a LCT in comp for both Tier 2 (CK, LCT-3M) and Tier 1 (S RS, LCT-1E) teams. Some leagues have weird restrictions. And seriously, you haven't lived as a light pilot until you've run a LCT in comp. Posted Image

I pilot awesomes, archers, trebuchets and locusts.

I find them all fun and usually do decently with them because I know their limits. It is a challege that I accept and realize when I have failed my team. I still see folks in 'meta' mechs though that can't hit the broad side of a barn, so find what works for you.

Gosh there are so many: MIst Lynx, Commando, Large Ballistic Urbanmechs, STD Engine Vindicators... At some point I intend to pick up Adders, but I haven't devoted the C-bills.

Where is the thrill of battle if you don't have one hand tied behind your back?

Highlander HM, with its SRM6s, 3 Mediums, and Gauss Rifle. It is harder to play than when it was released and has only ever gone down and never up in meta.

I like Summoners, though they are not great

2 x ER PPC's, 5 Double heatsinks and a TC Mark V, makes a nice poptarter

or my

4 x LRM10, plus narc fast support mech

This one causes quite a steady stream of Salty QQ goodness

Among the many hopeless mechs taking dust in my bays, the first prize for total uselessness goes to:

Though I admit it was never a favorite in TT, the Panther 10P is one that many seem to feel is hopeless in MWO but which I think is a ton of fun. BTW "Ballistic Panther" would be a great band name.

As to a mech more appropriate to the OP's question: Gotta say the Dragon or Archer. I loved both in TT but I will be damned if I can make the Dragon work in any role that doesn't start with the preface of "short lived". As to the Archer, in TT it is supposed to be the preeminent LRM mech. I have managed only 1 LRM build on any of the Archers, and even this one fails to use the iconic LRM 20s. So while it is adequate for MWO play it still feels like it just doesn't work the way it is "supposed to".

I had an unbelievable game yesterday in my Panther P10. Dropped the ballistics for AMS, and 2 SRM4s.
I did 781 damage and 5 kills. (I know - right?).

I have to post the image so you will believe me. http://i.imgur.com/a9Rqlir.jpg

Shadow Hawks (might best fit the description of "obsolete" in that they were once considered good)
CDA-3C (this was my first 'mech in MWO and I still love it)
VND-1R (I've found this one better than its reputation; the 1X I might regard as TRULY hopeless)

I'm a bit of a contrarian and spend a lot of my time in "hopeless" mechs no-one else is running. I love Blackjacks but never even bought the BJ-1X, as that's what everyone and his dog is running.

My Vindicators.

The very definition of obsolete.

But still one of the coolest design, imo.

Spider 5K.
It's fun, it's fast, it jumps, it has 4 MGs and an ultra-quirked ER-LL. On paper, it should be my favourite ride.
And yet, I just can't make it work. Which is strange, because the Locust-1V is my favourite mech, and it's almost the same build.
Only highlight i ever had with it was killing Sarlic's half dead Atlas by shooting it for something like 2 minutes with MGs.

BTW, i miss Sarlic's A**-kicking Atlases/Atlai.

The summoner is my all time favourite mech, ever since I first saw it in mechwarrior 2 when I was 4 years old. Ever since I saw it pounding away in mechwarrior 3 a few years later.

Its also one of the worst mechs in MWO.

Im more than a little bitter about that.

Man, I hear you on the Summoner, big time. At least we've got the Thunderbolt, and it doesn't suck...right? Maybe?
I know, it's just not the same.
