Disconnect/tk/team Damage Timeout Penalties

Game crashed twice in two consecutive matches. Didn't have enough time to reconnect back to the match within 3 minutes, because at first the game wouldn't let me log in. And when it did, loading the map took way too long. So 2 strikes in 2 matches.
3rd strike: internet went out, still connected back to the match, but after the 3 minute limit.
4th strike: 2 team damage teamkill, sure make me wait 5 minutes for this.
5th strike: Did do a bit more team damage than I would've liked (78), but I guess that's reason enough to make me wait 10 minutes (**** no), missing out on a FW match. But that 78 damage was for 4 mechs.
Instead of having the penalty system reset every 4 hours, make it reset after a certain number of matches, FW counting for more than normal queue.

With an unlucky shot that takes a friendly's torso with an arm. Add some random damage from strikes and people running in front of my line of fire. Normal team damage I have is between 0-20.
Also, nice job of disregarding all the other ******** reason adding to the penalty. Sure, I'd have been fine with 10 second penalty for the fifth one, but everything else was pretty much out of my control.

Just remember that the system is designed to curb bad gameplay habits, and give people a break from others who hurt the game.
So now we just need a penalty in here for LRM Atlai.
I'm not disconnecting, the game crashes. Logging in, loading the mechlab and whatever there is, takes ages. Then there's still the rejoining to the match and loading the map.
78 team damage for 4 mechs = less than 20 per mech. That's not enough to get a penalty on normal queue. And even that damage was one of the top team damages I've had.
If game instability is a bad gameplay habit, PGI should give themselves a break from this game.

With that attitude I wouldn't want to play with you anyway. You're assuming that PGI is responsible for your multiple disconnects while not even considering that your local internet connection may be experiencing difficulties at this time due to unforeseen circumstances beyond Paul's control. Russ could've done something about it though.

*Incase this was taken seriously... you may want to run the repair tool if you're experiencing frequent issues logging into the game, loading the mechlab, etc. Do you have a lot of mechs btw?

As I said, I'm not disconnecting. The game crashes, with all that crash report sending thing coming up. Only one time I was disconnected because my ISP ******* out, and I'm not blaming PGI for that. Even with that DC I was back within 5 mins, which is not that much in FW, but still got one strike for it.

I added a second part to that after realizing how what I said could be taken, I've a bit of a sharp wit sometimes and that can translate poorly through text. Again, I recommend running the repair tool and see if that helps you any. If not, tech support (they have one, right?) might be able to help you.

Fix the problem man, its on your end - your pc - your problem.
-Make sure your potato is actually at least min. specs
-Repair tool
-Roll back/forward your hardware drivers (including bios)
- Make sure the fans in your potato box actually work
-----------------
Team damage - from what we've been told it accrues towards a threshold in 30 minutes and then jumps up the penalty and only resets after 4 hours of good behavior. You crossed it because you didn't curb your fire at some points. Sorry mate, you earned that penalty.
Tips to easy your pain:
- don't always pilot zoomed in
- don't arty your team.....
- if someone crosses, just let them/fire into the ground
- chain fire is your friend if you can't be bothered with moving your aim

The game has now been programmed to temporarily ban people from the game for various reasons including team damage and exiting the game before it is over. The more it occurs, the longer the amount of time you are blocked for.
In this instance, Pop was dropped from the game due to connectivity issues and MWO prevented him for X amount of time, increasing it each time it happened. He was constantly trying to rejoin.
I know, because I was leading the group and enduring all the ******** being bestowed upon him/us.
I also experience the fun in being penalised for bad internet connectivity.
Let's add more waiting time! What a great idea!!! Cos waiting 20-40min or more for a match (that ends up as a ghost drop) is super fun!!! And penalising the few people dedicated to playing this day in and day out is a great thing to do!
Team damage is so damn frequent it is literally unavoidable. Most of you are shooting us in the back. You walk through us like we are not even there. And walking into someones obvious firing line is rather stupid!
I also find it fascinating how the ISP is always to blame when the people I play with are from all different countries yet are experiencing the same lag and connectivity issues. But no... that's not the servers is it.. :|
No, I shant stop now, as I am enjoying this vent as I have been waiting for well over 30min for a match now. I also truly enjoy the constant pausing of the game when I line up a shot which allows the enemy to strip me of all my weapons, then it decides to unfreeze and let me continue the game. Great fun! The lag jumps are great too! (this is when I am in one spot on the map then suddenly I am somewhere else on the map)
The penalties need to be amended to be 100 team damage or more and 'specifically pressed the button' to leave the game early.
So sick of the bloody waiting!!!!!!!!

I clarified in an edit that it was intended as a joke/jab at PGI then added a few suggestions for how he might resolve the issue, in my defense.

And yet it remains a proven fact that others do not have these issues.
If they were entirely on PGI´s end, they would be GLOBAL and effect literally everybody to some degree.
I run a comp that undercuts the min. requirements by at least a generation, both in CPU and GPU, ynd yet I have a disconnect 2-3 times a month at worst... And I still manage to make it into everyy one of htose matches in time to reconnect.
It´s always eays to push blame on everyone else, it´s realizing your own contribution to the problem that usually hurts

And for the record: your internet functioning flawlessly to any other place in the world at any given time does not in any way rule out your ISP as the cause. It just means they have decent peering contracts with respects to those other services. No more, no less. It says absolutely nothing about the peering they use to connect to MWOs datacenter.

If your 12 man group is putting up more than 2 per person per mech in an actual match their is a player skill issue at the root of the problem.

In all my drunken mech piloting since the system was put into place, I have suffered one 8 second penalty for an accidental team kill. If you are getting frequent and/or prolonged penalties for team damage or kills, you should be looking at yourself and not the system. If you are frequently DCing you need to start troubleshooting the problem on your end and with support.

Yes, this potato runs the game stable +60fps. Potato fans also work, max heat with cpu around 60, gpu around 70. Repair tool/reinstall did nothing, driver changes have done nothing.

Where did you get the idea of a 12 man group?
And team damage is unavoidable, when some steeringwheel underhive hero decides to park his mech in front of a friendly who has just fired his weapons.
But all this is offtopic. I didn't make this topic so some flawless players could come here to be forum superheroes. If you had actually read the whole opening post, there was a suggestion to change the 4 hour penalty reset system to X amount of matches reset system. One normal queue match would of course count as one match, and every mech used in FW match would count as one (4 max.).
Or just 10 normal matches, or 3 FW matches, without looking at how many mechs were used.

I thought the penalty only occurred if you quit before you were killed. I could be wrong, but in most military units if you refuse to help your squad during combat you can be killed on the spot (wait for the quotes of military law by the 4fs)
The penalty is there to keep folks from jumping from winning game to winning game or only participating if it is a map they like.
I have had 4-5 DCs since FW wave3 patch was implemented. I have a 1year old intel machine with maybe 2 DCs in the last year. Yes it is a pain, but it made me check my settings and other features, and I did find some stuff that needed kicking. I can only yell and scream at PGI after I have fixed my end of the equation. Plus I do not want potato machines on my watch, and am glad if they leave the game instead of gimping my team.
