For the past couple of weeks CW numbers have been falling off. Well, now-they are non existent. Its Friday night and there is 17 people in the mode right now. Not even enough for 1 match. SEVENTEEN TOTAL PLAYERS in CW. Its the only mode I like-quickplay is too full of noob idiots which I somehow get paired with even though i'm tier 2. I don't mind new players. I do mind idiot players though. Is this the end?

Well that's what happens when they refuse to put any effort into the mode for going on a year.

Yea, last few weeks have been pretty slow. At first I chalked it up to the events, but on average it has been slower than normal even when there isn't an event.

Lack of interest awaiting phase 3 most likely.

I think a lot of people are burnt out. Nothing new is happening with the game mode and the balance seems a bit off

17 total whole CW?... Hmm, may be oceanic TZ?
Because there are usually at least half of that number (and often - more than that) going on MS TS during EU TZ and often at least a couple of 12s during NA TZ. And we often face other teams as well. And a lot of pugs. Especially when we are Clan. No waiting time at all between drops.
So, 17 total in the entire mode seems somewhat off the chart, really.

Well, you see....this has been PGI's business model since the start. Draw in new players, milk some cash out of them, ignore them until they go away. Lather, rinse, repeat as necessary.

Seriously. FW was supposed to be "end game content," but someone at PGI decided it would serve their needs better as a "romper room" for new players.

Southern houses get boned by not having the flexibility/attraction of a clan front. When numbers are low, everybody scrambles to where the fights are... which is usually the clan front.

yep ghost drop apalossa - most unit still playing game just attack never defend -they leave that to the pugs - only time you see a organized team on defense is last half hour before cease fire if the que is close to them losing a world with thier tag on it.
Getting to be standard practice for holding worlds if you dont defend the world most groups will not keep attacking it - everyone hate the pointless 10-20 wait time to drop then get no one to fight WORLD SECURED.

Sorry getting little sour - games bleeding player, number that were bumped from steam disappearing - Pgi had a chance to fix these issues before steam luanch but instead same ol same ol- dont fix inequal population distribution- keep running that disaterous ghost drop mode - and do nothing to help new players aclimate into Cw mode succefuly.
Steam luanched large wave of new players they mostly went clan my unit started calling it seal clubbing- it got to the point we actaully ejected our fisrt whole wave of mechs on a few matches just to make it interesting or partialy fair.

We posted in all chat names of freindly TS servres they could go to if new players to get help - not to be jerks but to try get them to seek out freindly units that would take them in and help them get up to speed. This is after all suppose to be a team based game.

People put stock in this phase three, thinking it'll fix CW. It's a band aid. We need to also have a look at the community playing CW and see if there is anything we can fix.

Make CW the standard play mode. That's the Goddamn problem right now, it's an alternate mode for hardcore players.

**** THAT! FACTION WARFARE IS WHAT THE GAME IS ULTIMATELY ABOUT, DAMNIT!

Get rid of the word "FACTION" in the UI. Have it say "PLAY", not "FACTION PLAY". When n00bs click on it and pick a faction, they will become conditioned to it being the normal game mode, which it should be.

If PGI wants to be serious about CW, they have to do everything they can to direct people towards it. That includes standardizing the game mode, as well as incentivizing it better. CW feels like a half-assed afterthought. Far more effort goes into quickplay than CW, and it really, really shows.

It is not uncommon for the Oceanic TZ to have no players at all, particularly during the work week.

At least 4 times last week I logged in around 9-930 pm (primetime), found not 1 person queued in FW, logged out and played something else.

There are a number of reasons for it, but the main one is a lack of a reason to even play it. Quick play queue is relatively quiet too. Too much burn out doing the same stuff over and over in any mode for veterans, and not enough interest or reasons to keep playing from new players.

CW tried to be like EVE online and failed miserably ...if CW had a economic incentive like EVE it may have worked, like offering more cbills for merc units to factions without big populations
