As a unit less pilot I find the misconceptions and venomous rhetoric about what a unit less pilot "is" amusing. Apparently I don't want to work as a team, field lrms and machine guns, and all sorts of other nonsense.

Truth of the matter is I'm solo for one reason. Time. I can't dedicate time to a unit to be there at specific times, or be a real "team member". So I float solo, do the occasional faction match, and hope it's with people that will call targets etc. Funny, sounds like this unit less pilot wants to work as a team.

Now the rhetoric here pretty much reinforces the idea that I will remain tagless. Honestly, who wants to associate with toxicity?

The sad thing is... too many players think that having a unit tag = being a better player. I have yet to see a correlation between potatoes and tags next to their names. There are just as many of them with tags as there are without them.

The only reason why there are more good players with Tags in CW than good players without tags is solely because there are are more players with tags than there are without.

We had a game on Saturday with us in a group of 8, leaving 4 to be filled out. 2 players (with Tags both together combined to manage 500 damage over 8 mechs) had constant DCs... 3 maps in a row and when they were in the game they were never, ever moving together with the rest of the team, 1 player (without a tag ended up with well over 1000 damage) was moving and shooting with us and helping. The final player (with a tag ended with 600 damage over 4 mechs while we all had 1 mech left to drop with) was constantly moaning that we shouldnt push towards X or whining that our calls were crap and that his targets were much better and why we were not supporting him more.

In the end we lost because we had to carry 3 tagged potatoes with a team of 8 plus a good tagless player.

The queue split means that the one good player will not be able to play with more organised units any more unless he/she starts a 1 person unit or joins an existing one... and everyone in units who want to play seriously is still forced to carry those 3 potatoes.
