unless they're trying to attract more of the player base to it

They'd need a complete overhaul of what CW is and how it works to do that.

Yeah, let's forget about the thousands that would come back to this game if there is a viable CW.

You hit the nail on the head: IF there is a viable CW.

If anything it's their own fault for over-promising CW.

No argument there.

Been there. Done that. It's really no big of a deal. Posted Image

And no, I am not joking.

PGI hasn't learned it's cheaper to keep current customers than to sign new ones, yet.

Ps. Is there still no roadmap?

It's still the weekend, so no, no roadmap. I believe he said he was going to post it early to mid this week coming up.

Be thankful there's a Phase 3 at all. Most companies wouldn't spend as much time, money and effort on something that affects only 10% or less of their playerbase.

yea, I'm very thankful pgi is trying to do, at the third attempt, after quite 1 year and half, what it should have been the core of the game from the beginning, 4 years ago. Posted Image

I just listened to the first part of the Town Hall.

He said FW Phase 3 will contain many new aspects (eg. scouting missions, recruiting fees on units) however, they haven't changed a single thing about the existing basic FW. That surprised me.

Further, there won't be a FW Phase 4. From this point forward updates to FW will be like changes to Quick Play... small, incremental, month-by-month.

This is another pointer that PGI increasingly think it's "mission accomplished" with the basis of MWO. What comes after the next patch will be enhancements and balance changes, but nothing that will change the underlying game so very greatly.

Can't wait for Sunk Cost Fallacy Phase 3.

Hopefully it'll be so good that it doesn't drive anyone away!

This game is a can being kicked down the street for sport.

CW phase 3.

Like any of the phases are actually working or enjoyable. haha

I suppose they are simply trying to stay on target. With that said, not many pilots came out of the death star trench run alive.

And?

"CW Phase 3 is coming on the 19th. Patch note nearer the date to have full details"

Happy now??

Seriously, there isn't a prize going for coming up with the most pointless, nitpicking, irrelevant complaint.

Because to me it would seem rather lazy not to write a brief memo to your paying customers, letting them know what you had planned for April. Even if that is just a list of the CW Phase 3 features, it would be something.

Or he could spend the time trying to get the features into the launch.

You know what's coming, you don't need to whine that you didn't find out in your personally preferred manner.

And the winner of the White Knight of the day award goes to....

Must be part of the "inner circle".

"My aim will be to discuss the the road map for April at the town hall and then post it that evening when complete" - If you want quotes.

It was targeted for a lot more than 10% of the playerbase.

The difference is however this is 'pointless'. people would love and play MW: O without solaris, singleplayer, or community warfare and spend just as much money (ish) if PGI did waste a lot of time and resources on CW. I mean imagine how many more mechpacks nad money PGI could make if they hired less coders for that and more for mechs and skins and animations.

It's why IGP hated community warfare. they saw it as a sink where money drained into and PGI was still recovering from a bare scratch away from bankruptcy from lawsuits.

Sorry what lawsuits were PGI involved with?

On topic: I would rather they concentrate on getting a revised and new CW to the best condition possible before launching it later in the month than posting a roadmap outlining them do it. Is this really a legitimate complaint.

Further, the fact that we now have a single patch per month means that the roadmap is largely superseded by patch notes now. Again, why do people care so much about this!?!

So nothing else is slated for this month's patch? Good to know, because it seems to be the only thing anyone is saying would be in the road map. Glad to see they have 100% of their staff working on it. For those of us who don't give a scratch about CW3, then we can skip this patch. Maybe if it had slated PPC velocity and heat changes, or some other changes, I might be interested in checking out the patch notes on the 19th. Now I can skip it completely.

Thanks for clearing that up without a personal attack against the poster.

No roadmap because they still haven't actually started working on it past the fancy graphic presentation from the steam launch party.

But don't fret, they'll start on it in the next week or so and whip in into a patch that totally won't be buggy or require at least 3 hotfixes to make stable with old new bugs popping back up.

I meant no offence - though to be honest I'm not sure where you might have inferred some.

You have sort-of agreed with my point - a roadmap is useful if there are multiple patches across a month. With just one you can (as you said) just check the patch notes? so why bother duplicating information?

Before you infer more abuse - let me say I agree with you in part that this information came from a town hall that has not been supported with a written statement (go figure why). I think this is more what the OP was about than a missing roadmap - that we had to rely on someone's "cliffnotes" rather than any official statement backing the spurious claims up...

Roadmap or not, some of us don't have the time to listen to a 3h podcast...

No. I want to know what new features/content will be coming in April. It's not only CW Phase 3 ... and we don't even know exactly what made it into CW Phase 3 or not, based on the third of the Town Hall that I listened to.

Is it really too much to ask a company to spend half an hour setting out what it plans to deliver its paying customers over the course of an entire month?

Nor is there a prize for defending PGI's ongoing descent back into non-communication.

Or he could do both. A road map need not take long. It's not hard. A half hour of extra work is nothing.
