Again, why do people care so much about this!?!

I have been playing this game daily for three years and have spent lots more than $1K on it..

PGI are damned fortunate that I and some others "care so much about this" that we avidly want to know and plan for what new content and features they deliver.

In fact, if PGI want me to keep caring enough to buy more Mech Packs, then perhaps they could care enough to invest a half hour posting a road map to keep me interested.

I was worried when patches got dialled back to just once a month. Now we can't even get a road map post?

Talking about what is coming for 3 hours is not enough? CW 3 is coming, when that's pretty much all they have been talking about since dec??

These kinda posts just make me think, sometimes you just can't please anyone. The last 2 town halls we knew what was coming in April. these forums remind me of Metacritic at times.. when a game comes out that someone has an issue with for any reason it gets an automatic Zero..

yea, I'm very thankful pgi is trying to do, at the third attempt, after quite 1 year and half, what it should have been the core of the game from the beginning, 4 years ago. Posted Image

the game has only been in development about that long.. I'm sure they would of loved to, and if someone handed them 20 or 30 million dollars, they could of sat behind closed doors and worked on the game for 4 years.. and not had to worry about constant balance, or adding content just to stay afloat..

If a game is not where you want, just wait.. I waited for 10+ years on starcraft.. waiting for a bunch more on star citizen.. i am waiting on galatic civ III for a few more.. same with many others.. this game though i am happy i could at least play... But waiting for another few more for my single player campaign, and i'll wait patiently.

I only made it through the first hour before I couldn't stand the rambling any longer.

Do you think it's reasonable to expect all of your customers to sit through a 3 hour town hall, just so one company employee doesn't have to spend a half hour writing up some notes about what's coming, on the product that they're trying to sell?

And your defence of PGI's slide into non-communication with their best paying customers just makes me think that some chumps deserve the poor communication and bad service delivery that they tacitly endorse and encourage.

I meant no offence - though to be honest I'm not sure where you might have inferred some.

Nor did I think you meant offense. Sorry if you thought it was. My last statement was actually in praise that you did not do what others did (look further up the thread). I, like you, am frustrated that some think CW3 is the only thing planned in this month's patch. I am in agreement that we have better things to do than listen to 3 hours of talk only to find out something that actually interests us was not even mentioned.

Cheers

Yep, cant agree with you more Russ ... it was all IGP's fault. You are a hard charging, high speed, low drag individual. Always on time and everyone can count on you when the chips are down.

Or ... maybe not.

No. I want to know what new features/content will be coming in April. It's not only CW Phase 3 ... and we don't even know exactly what made it into CW Phase 3 or not, based on the third of the Town Hall that I listened to.

From what I got from the Town Hall he isn't 100% sure on it at this point either, hence why I can understand why a road map isn't forth coming

Is it really too much to ask a company to spend half an hour setting out what it plans to deliver its paying customers over the course of an entire month?

It's not half an hour though.
It's the time to get confirmations and commitments on the status of bits of the projects, the time to decide what will and won't be locked in / taken as commitments by publishing the Road Map, the time to then deal with the forum/twitter/whatever communication stream resulting from the Road Map, the time to rewrite and rejig as things you thought were going to go in paragraph 4 get changed whilst you're in the middle of doing paragraph 6, the time taken to deal with the extra traffic generated if things are/aren't included in the final patch, and time for a hundred and one other complications and knock-ons

Something like a Road Map is never a quick thing, and that goes double with a major content update

Nor is there a prize for defending PGI's ongoing descent back into non-communication.

I'm defending their non-communication as a whole, I'm pointing out why in a situation like the one he described in the podcast it's understandable for it not to be coming out.

They're holding a "wow it's nothing" tournament that excludes 99% of the userbase isn't that good enough for you? Are you entitled or something?

It's launching in just 13 days from now. ("70% confidence level".) He also said they are testing it ("30 bugs to squash"). Even if some feature gets tossed at the last minute due to an unfixable bug, they could easily share with us the vast majority of what is planned on the basis that it's "subject to last minute change" (as stated at the Town Hall).

See above. They are less than two weeks away from releasing it. There would be very very little mystery about what is going to be released.

You can only conclude that the reason for not writing a Road Map is the reason he gave "Can't find the motivation to do it".

Which is very poor form.

I am bummed that there isn't a road map yet. I do like reading them and seeing what's in store. I know Faction Play Phase III is the big thing this month, but I want to know the details!

My motto for Phase 3 was always "I'll believe it when I see it, and I won't believe anything until then".

Looks like I'll never see it.

So like phase 2 but with a 3 after it? J/K

What do we know for details of phase 3, I am admittedly ignorant and without motivation to watch a whole townhall to find out. Is 4v4 included? That is the big thing I was hoping for. This is also when they are planning to add a solo queue for faction play isn't it?

No one knows. All we got was another power point presentation back in Dec, which means that FW Phase 3 could be almost finished to vaporware. Based on PGI's past performance as an indicator of future performance ... FW in 13 days!!!
