So, the Mad Cat MK II was built by Clans, with Clan tech and mostly fielded by Clans. That makes it a 100% Clan mech in my book.

Really thank you for those tables. I will make good use of them.

Black Lanner (or Huntsman), Night Gyr (no question about that one) and Linebacker (Rifleman IIC or Black Python or Grizzly would be even better).

Why Black Lanner? It was the most popular remaining medium in the omnimech polls... (not many people actually know the Huntsman)

Fortunately Russ has shown a willingness to go with less known options in the past (Kintaro has never been iconic, nor the Trebuchet). Huntsman and Vapor Eagle are the only GOOD Medium Mech choices.... Posted Image

I will always admit that it is a Clan mech, it just comes from a time when a lot of key Clan Mechs show up as general IS in the Master Unit list, that is a problem as it leads to the dumpster fire that is mixtech.

When it comes to the Black Lanner, there is no accounting for mass bad taste. I think a lot of the people that are pushing for it, want it like it was in the MekTek MW4, with 360 degree torso twist, not the pod space starved (but faster) Storm Crow that it is in TT.

My prediction of the next few mechs:

Night Gyr -> Huntsman -> Fire Falcon -> Linebacker -> Mad Cat Mk.II

The Nova cries in a corner Posted Image

Well till June or July when the resizing patch comes though I am considering the Nova a heavy as it is nearly the size of a Timberwolf.

@SealFarm

No just match making every match I go in everyone aims for the left side, and still nails it even while shielding with my right arm. As I also pointed out if they did give it endo and FF I would likely fit in some more equipment. (2 more Double heat sinks and 2 Machine guns and a ton of ammo for it)

As for the Night Gyr I pretty much said it would be one of the two heavies but likely the second of the two as we current have two 75 tonners, where as we have 1 60 tonner, 2 65 tonner, 1 70 tonner.

(I completely forgot the Ebon Jaguar)

Pretty much this. The Eagle and Huntsman are by far the best Omni Mediums left. Further more, as you pointed out, Russ has shown willingness to put in less known mechs which is great and as such is a none issue.

I really hope they do not add the BLanner as the next mech, it's just so bad. I feel that the people who want the BLanner are looking through rose tinted glasses based entirely on MW4.

And about Black Lanner, many people want it - why not add it? EDIT: it's not that hard to fix the lack of pod space.

You are correct, the Eagle is a BM and not an omni. My mistake.

The fact people want it does not bother me, what does bother me though is that people want it based off a false narrative that they believe that the mech is good because their experience with it in TT or MW4.
The mech just has to much weight invested in the engine that it leaves you with only 13t of pod space and thats before investing in armor as it's armor is rather thin for a 55t mech as well as people putting in the obvious ECM.
Armoring it up alone will eat into 2 tons of your weight leaving you with 11t to play with.

10t once they fit the ECM on it... and I'm sorry but that's not much more free pod space than the Viper, and the Viper is 15t lighter!

I think when they add the Black Lanner, much like the Viper, there will be lots of QQ about lack of pod space to do anything other than ERSL/SPL spam, and people will be satly that they spent real money/MC/C-bills on it. After all the QQ is done about it, the mech will be relegated to the same dark and dusty part of the hanger as the Mist Lynx, Summoner, Kit Fox, Adder, Nova and Gargoyle.... I'm sure the Viper will clear some space for it once it gets shoved in there too.

The only way to deal with some of that locked up equipment is to deal with that 385cXL there is 22t locked up in that thing... but slowing it down to a 6/9 (330cXL) would make it the same speed as the Storm Crow, negating the major difference between the Black Lanner and Storm Crow, speed.

I did not realize that Clan MEchs were limited to Omnis.

Just to make sure youre clear... the Mad Cat II listed under Jade Falcon is a wholly different mech than the MkII. You'll notice all the factions listed as having access to the MkII are aligned with the Inner Sphere (fighting on their behalf) or direct allies with Diamond Shark, or both.

None of the factions we'd understand as "Clan" in MWO... meaning aligned against the Inner Sphere during the time of release... have access to the mech.

It may seem like semantics, but it's important to remember on whose side someone is fighting. If you're looking at which vehicles to put on which side in a historical battle between the United States and its allies and anyone who's an enemy of those groups... a Panzer IV... produced by Germany... is an enemy vehicle. But a Leopard, also produced by Germany, is an allied vehicle. Context matters.

Gargoyles do fine.

Summoned and Shadow Cats are limited by hardpoints. They have plenty of free tonnage but no way to use it effectively.

This is a problem the BLanner, Linebacker, and Viper don't have. Plenty of hardpoints, compact models, and build paths that synergize with the speed they carry. All fast strike mechs with survivability.

-Ok so say they add Clan Nova Cat do you really expect them to be restricted in not having a way to attack say Kurita? The "alliances" are by the players not the game engine. Just as it is now, hell the Clans were pretty much against each other really none would help the other heck most tried to hinder the others conquest. Steiner should not be allowed to attack Davion yet it is possible if they are touching borders right?

-Say for your sake of Nova Cat do you expect the IS aligned Clans to use IS mechs then? Of course not! They would continue to use their clan mechs and tech, quiaff? Clan Nova Cat would still use Timberwolfs, Ebon Jags, Mad Dogs, Adders, Shadow Cats ect. ect. ect as their roster mechs just as any other Clan. It would be silly if they were IS and could only use IS designed mechs like the Dragon, Atlas, Black Knight, Crab, ect. And I do not expect them to be able to field either Clan or IS chassis that would make little sense as well as they still would prefer and deploy their own Omni Clan mechs.

-The Mad Cat Mk.II would be on their roster as the Ebjon Jag was only a Smoke Jag mech yet every clanner can use the. This would lead to just as Ebjon Jag that every "Clan" having access to the Mk.II. Same as Nova Cat and Arctic Wolf deal.

-PLUS Russ has said they might add Faction Skins for other clans in the future after they get the chassis (specials and all) caught up on camo's.

Also Ghost Bear is on that list that has the Mk.II and they are in the game as of right now are they not?

OK anyway MK.II debate aside....

I got a strong feeling that the next mech we will see is the Night Gyr, any idea who the hero for this will be?

For the 2nd heavy if they go Omni it will be the Linebacker sadly....though unique fast and heavy are not the best combination....

The other Medium *shrug* sounds like either Blanner, Pouncer, or Huntsman.
