He also said that the timeline would not be advanced until the new CW Phase 3 has time to play out and mentioned that it could be 6 months or a year before that happens.
That means the time line will not advance until around the beginning of 2017 to mid 2017 at the very earliest.
Uziels and Mad Cat MKIIs will have to wait. No amount of denial will change that.

I think it might be the Nova Cat for the second heavy to be honest... I mean, we are talking about a mech that will probably be announced end of June, and dropped in September.. that might be far enough out to start releasing some of the later mechs, no?
I mean, the Linebacker would be more boring than the Kingfisher would be.
I wouldn't make that assumption, or soon you'll convince yourself that Russ was leading you on, like someone else did. Russ was not ONLY referring to Clans we he was referring to scraping the barrel. But remaining timeline appropriate IS Mechs too.
If they released the Nova Cat, there would be no valid excuse to hold off on the mkII. Well, other than the fun of watching IMp froth.

Wow after reading his well stemmed saltiness clearly any mech thats said on here is DOA to him. FFS imperius, my queen, you have already turned CK16 a man that was on your side to an apostate. Whos next? Pbiggz?
Naw, Biggy is the defender of his virtue, that could never happen!

No, it won't change. But it can provide us plenty of entertainment, every month, after every announcement, watching him rage, ignore reality and otherwise act like a loon. And of course, in a year and a half, or two years, when the mkII DOES arrive, watching him crow "his success" to the moon.

Not my problem. *shrugs*
I'm just not spinning a personal interpretation to what Russ said. From his own words there is exactly zero reason to expect a Nova Cat any time soon. You will probably see mechs like the Grizzly and stuff, since there is no reason to expect solely Omnimechs.

I'm a total Clan loyalist, but I think it's obvious that we'll have to expect more IS mechs than Clan mechs at our current point in time. As much as I wish we could just check off all the great Clan mechs that we have to look forward to, we have to acknowledge that not only are there more IS mechs that are equally deserving of coverage first, but that there are perhaps more players that are either IS loyal or completely indifferent to the IS/Clan divide, or, perhaps most important of all, that for the sake of balance and longevity, we actually need to be maximizing the time spent at an existing tech level before introducing mixtech, new weapons / chassis that will obsolete those currently in rotation, etc.

and if they use Omnis and Battlemechs, it's quite doable. And just like the IS some chassis will be great, some not. So just like the IS; welcome to getting crappy chassis.
And if you want to cry "unfair" go complain to FASA, FanPro and CGL who put out the base source material.
Of course, the more you push "equality", the longer it takes to get to a timeline jump, sooo......

Ummm.....I also don't care for IS chassis. I don't own a single one.
But my point was more that we need to accept that a numerical imbalance is inevitable. If we push for a 1:1 ratio of new chassis introductions, then we're going to end up with an extreme number of mechs being obsoleted before you know, which will hurt not just the confidence of the buyers, but the margins that the developers rely on.
The facts are that there are more IS mechs than Clan mechs. There are more IS mechs than Clan mechs available within our current timeline point. Yes, as much as I wish it were not the case, the timeline is 100% irrelevant in terms of gameplay, but, it is absolutely critical in terms of the longevity of the game. Things have changed from the old days, developers today can't just release a title today and then bring out a new one in 12 month time. It doesn't work like that anymore, so a long term plan is incredibly important. With the FTP model that we have in MWO, that means that a strategic approach to your money makers is key to survival. In other words, the 'timeline' is a lie, but without it, the game will die.
I don't like it, I wish many things were very different, but this is what we have to work with. There's no such thing as 'unfair', that's just life.

Night Gyr!!!
Viper should have been Night Gyr...honestly...
Yeah, or any other medium like the Huntsman but, it is what it is and its what im skipping out on. No complaining or stomping will change it just the shrug of my shoulders. Im mostly a heavy and assault pilot anyways.
As to the safe space yea, no. Im open to discussion about stuff and not the raving nonsense of an angry child. In this case where its about stuff like this whole mk2 debacle then its about what are the facts and the only source is Russ's words.

Frankly, I'm sick and tired of the back and forth. Regardless of my personal viewpoint on timeline issues, Russ stated what is and is not a valid choice in the near future. This thread is about the next Clan mech. Right there. In the title. We don't need to, nor should we, bring up a mech that has no chance whatsoever to be it. It's a waste of time, and a constant source of drama.
I'd be more than happy to discuss legitimate mech options with Impy, pbiggz, or the pope for all I care, but my patience for the Mk II and the drama that comes bundled with it is expended. The crusade is over, guys. Done. Finito. Russ made it clear. It's like the Flea - a non-issue at this particular juncture.
Can we please move on?

Thats very interesting to hear coming from the guy who straight up said he'd oppose the MK II just to be a vindictive **** to my friend. Russ's only real limiter for mechs was tech, and the MK II was winning that first vote until you showed up and started telling everyone that the timeline mattered, then everyone defaulted to the kodiak instead.
