That is why it comes down to personal opinion on what is iconic, to ones that like the Mk.II in MW4 they will remember it to those that liked the Uziel they will remember that one. BOTH got call outs in the game, the Mk.II get its own special cut scene and the Uziel well the favorite of Ducan Fisher. I agree though that to many the Atlas and the TImberwolf are like the golden standard for mechs for what is iconic both in performance in looks ect.

Like i said just nitpicking nuances and not just mw4 for the atlas and timby they are more along the lines of like flagship status i feel. But i think that enough of that lets get back to clan mechs shall we before i open Pandora's box..

Iconic also differs from seeing to setting.

For TT Battletech , The Atlas and Timberwolf indeed are THE gold standard. But even for that they aren't the only icons, as for instance all the HG Unseen certainly are considered such.

Thing is, I would argue that none of them save maybe the TBR were iconic to the MW franchise. And even the Timby was only such in MW2. Part of being iconic is recognition, and a large portion of the mechwarrior franchise player base had NEVER played TT, so what's iconic to TT players is meaningless to many MW players. Party of it is how coveted the machine was. In MW3/4 neither the Atlas nor Timby were hugely coveted in either title. The Annihilator was the poster boy for overkill in MW3, the Uziel was the cover mech, Duncan Fishers pet mech, had the npc tech drooling over it in the cut scenes, etc. And the mkII and Fafnir were the most used and coveted assaults.

Thus for mw4, they indeed were the iconic, recognized faces of the game.

I might be as tired of the mkII shenanigans was the next guy, but that doesn't color my view of the mechs place. It was also coveted in MWDA.

Also, just look to the amount of requests the bushwacker, Uziel, Fafnir and mkII jab generated, without Impy or CK16s contributions, since the forums started in 2012.

Yea but it was just in the logo. The MK2 was never introduced in the DA game maybe cause wizkids lost those rights before they could or they just didnt want to add it. Quite weird

Well I think we could all put money on the Night Gyr.

For 2nd Medium I think there might actually be a good chance for the Pouncer giving us 2 of each weight for mediums so this might be a good option.

As for the Heavy options well it comes down to Omni or Battlemechs.

-Battlemechs could be Grizzly and not be bad but that is ALOT of Ghost Bear mechs lately lol (Does Russ like us Ghost Bears more? :P)

-IIC maybe but there is not much a crying for them out side of the groups with people who know a lot about them sorta deal, and if they did we only have a few viable options there even.

IMO I really would prefer mechs that would actually sell well not just mechs. I think maybe its a bit pricing for a medium mech but I do not think the Phoenix Hawk sold/is selling well TBH, we will see if the Viper sells well. Kodiak didn't need a lot of advertisement as it would seem the Phoenix Hawk is being heavily advertised. This is just an opinion I can not say for certain though.

One could argue IF they do the Nova Cat for the 2nd 70 tonner that the 4th could be the Mad Cat Mk II BUT I find this case very unlikely but it would fill 2 slots for Clan roster that could really use them.

My mistake, thought the Hunchy IIC was.... My bad. OK so a 55 tonner as well is needed now.

I dare say it would be more useful than the Pouncer.

Say hello Vapor Eagle?

My Suspicion is another 55 tonner in the Black Lanner (not a huge fan myself but lots of people like it), the Night Gyr (as one of the heavies) and the other heavy could be any from Grizzly (likely), Rifleman IIC (likely), Linebacker (likely as people like it, again not me personally) to Crossbow

It's not an omni, so if we will just pick any medium I'd go with the best clan medium the Hellhound MW4 version.

Neither Russ not the OP specified Omni, to my recollection. Since the MW4 Hellhound is not canon, I doubt it will happen, though it's a cool looking mech.

Not sure sure in what way besides looks it works be "better" than the Vapor Eagle, but I wouldn't be upset by it's inclusion.

Well he said in the Town Hall he had 4 omni mechs in mind two mediums, and two heavies, but he couldn't release it as a pack because there was no clear way how to price which heavy or which medium above the other. One of those mediums ended up the Viper, so out of the 3 in his head we have 1 medium and two heavys, he said there wasn't any omni assaults or lights he was happy with.

I wish he didn't say it like that because he basically confimed the next 3 mechs are omni and mediocre... FML (Thank god WoW Legion and Doom 4 are out soon)

Meh we'll have to see whats in those medium and 2 heavies to determine anything. The Night Gyr if that happens to be one of the heavies "Mediocre" isnt the term id use for it probably good to quite decent. Same with the huntsman and a few others.

off topic;
Thanking god for WoW legion?.. you mean "wanna be BC 2.0"? sorry after Warlords and how lackluster that entire xpan was with garbage phone based mini games and garrisons, ive pretty much ended my years of playing since prebc. Doom does looks interesting though. What Im actually excited for is No Mans Sky cause it tickles that exploring side of me.

Basically this. While we basically know it's one medium and two heavy omnimechs upcoming, I wouldn't strictly call the choices mediocre. I mean, we have the Huntsman as a solid medium omni, the Pouncer which is another solid omni (though it's an extremely light medium for the role of pocket-heavy), and the Night Gyr which I just don't see doing badly - it moves about as fast as IS heavies but with the firepower of an assault mech.

Anything beyond that in the heavy or medium Omnimech category... yeah, I agree would be mediocre at best. At least in the Light Omni category we still have the Fire Falcon and, if they ever sort out HSR issues, Fire Moth. Both of those are solid mechs for their weight.

While not super fantastic mechs, the Turkey and Fisher are solid mechs. I would like to see both included. I just don't think they'd be phenomenal outside of distinguishing quirks or a token ECM.

After that point, if we want quality mechs for the Clans, I suppose we will need to lean on Battlemechs until a timeskip. Even then, the number of GOOD omnis are limited. Basically looking at the Nova Cat and Blood Asp as fantastic Omnimech choices, with the Cougar as a wildcard. Even though I love mechs that hit way above their weight class, I fear the Cougar might give up too much speed to do it.

Let's clarify I pretty much consider all omni mechs mediocre to Battlemechs. I don't like the mechs being good for one/ few meta builds. Hence why I was hoping we could skip these mechs. Everyone who understands the game knows clans are far from OP, and the main reason people jumped to IS in CW was the IS mechs are a tad bit better in most cases, for sure when some out ranged the clan lasers. Clans lack the "custom build" mech roster IS has. Only way to pass that is jumping the timeline that serves no purpose other than give PGI a shaky excuse to sell mediocre mechs.

Pretty bad when I rather play legion than MWO... Maybe I was making that my point ;)

Too much work and change would have to come of PVP to make me a daily player again, **** I skip most of the events these days too.

My biggest issues are:

>MWO a team game but not a team game, thanks mindless friendless anti-group pugs (not an insult unless the shoe fits then by all means wear it on your head) 3/3/3/3 was fine

>AMMO PER TON IS GARBAGE let's increase structure and armor by 2-3 times but not the ammo, ammo will get a tiny .5 buff. I still scratch my head at that choice but anyway. It won't fix the laser meta, but it would reduce the use of lasers for some.

> Don't get to choose your mech for the map still?

>Charge shot on gauss (why can't we pre charge, it's a sniper weapon, still would stop the brawling with gauss issue)

>No collisions (I get knockdowns aren't ever coming back) but damn it you hit a wall or a mech at 120kph you better take damage and you better come to a stop not warp though ****.

> I'm tired of the Dire Wolf as the only mech that simulates my Mad Cat MK II

>Bring on single player already A.I. is usually better players than the average pug.
