Joe Medicine Crow (1913-2016) passed away yesterday, being the last war chief of the Plains Indian nations. During his service in the 103rd Infantry Division in WW2, he counted the four coups (or trials) of the Crow Nation war chiefs, and was raised in that tradition by such men as Curly and Hairy Moccasin - veterans of the Big Horn (scouts for the 7th Infantry) like his grandfather White Man Runs Him.
In honor of the man who stole fifty horses from under the noses of a {Godwin's Law} company, dynamited his way through the Siegfried line, and carried the proud traditions of his people through a new century both as a warrior and historian, get close and brawl a few out this week.
