PGI needs to think about offering the sale of 3D printed mechs. I would bet that a large part of the community would love it. And they'd make additional monies. If I ever obtain a 3D printer, I am definitely going to try to print a mech or two!

I believe they don't have the rights to make physical goods.

Would be cool though.

Homer Simpson's old "if you don't like it, go to Russia" advice actually fits here. You can buy anything if you go east until the laws stop.

Anyway the high build primer and sanding makes for a great surface, not ideal on the 6mm scaled prints unfortunately but I get by with an Xacto blade and hours of effort per mech.

OP, do you have any other painted models yet? Always fun to see what others are doing.

This is my first MWO 3D printing project so unfortunately I don't have any other Mechs painted yet but I do occasionally enjoy an odd model kit or action figure customization once in a while. If you are interested please check out my Pinterest page:

I have started layering in the base colors on the Mads. Wanna make him look weathered and used by the time all shading and layering are done

Thank you for giving us the 3D model so generously! It's much appreciated! Will have to print this out.

I've used a massive SLS machine to print this in Nylon material, similar to what Shapeways call 'Frosted Detailed' material. You don't need supports when printing in SLS since parts are surrounded and supported by powder itself.

Hey! You need to extract the actual models out of PAK files first then use Blender to fix the geometry to be 3D print ready. I gotta say it is a laborious process but, if you want to print this Marauder I have uploaded the model onto Thingieverse here http://www.thingiver...m/thing:1453274

Thanks Solid!

For those who want to print one for themselves. You can download the STL file of this model here: http://www.thingiver...m/thing:1453274
And then use third party printing services such as Shapeways to print yourself one. Model is about 150mm high

At this price, quality and build volume there is no reason not to jump in and buy your own 3D printer.
Only $799
http://www.amazon.co...ords=replicator

If that is to much $$
I play with an XYZ Jr and it does the job at only $329

150mm is equal to 6 inches for those who are metrically challenged lol

What kind of printer are you using? A buddy of mine and I want to split the cost of one but I have no idea what a good one would be. We'd really only be using it for Battletech models, as well as some larger MWO models to sit on desks, like that gorgeous Marauder.
