Why not 2-3 circles, and if ANY get capped by either team ~ insta-loss? Then you have an incentive to not death-ball, as you'll quickly lose an objective.

Someone write this on a whiteboard in PGIs office
and when you do...

How would that change the "only lights and fast mediums can play Domination" complaints. You would actually be giving fast mechs a real advantage by implementing 3 circles. At least now, they are forced to be in the vicinity of enemy heavies and assault.
With 2-3 circles, the first team to loose their "fast mechs" would loose the game. Such Idea, Much Brilliant.

Just to elaborate... you are talking Sudden Death "Easy Conquest".... great idea....

Everything I hate about MWO, now in a gamemode that everyone votes for.. yay.

I can't stand the mode.. at all.

I vote for it if Assault is the other option.
I vote for it if Conquest is the other option and I'm solo PUGging (because solo conquest is basically "distraction-quest") and it forces my PUGlets to all go where the fight will be.
I vote against it if Skirmish is the other option.
I vote against it if Conquest is the other option and I'm in the team queue.

My only complaint is that the balance between spawns and where the domination circle is is heavily lopsided on some maps.

I said king of the hill would be bad, its skirmish where you move around even less, because you know where everyone will be.

Edit

I vote for it if the alternative is skirmish skirmish is pointless so might as well make sure where everyone is.
I don't vote for it if Conquest is the alternative.
I rarely vote for it if the other choice is assault

I think that should have been a flowchart. ;)

I like Dom but I do agree the circle could be moved/bigger/smaller depending on map. Some maps have bad spawns for it.

Make Alpha and Beta both worth 30 seconds shaved, and people will have some incentives in defending them.

I thought this as well, destroying Alpha or Beta would add 30 seconds to their clock AND remove 15 from your own. Not just extend the game as it does now but also give you a chance to end it that much easier if peeps derp around and dont play the objectives.

Hmm... interesting idea. Worth a PTS, at least.

The main reason that Domination sucks, though, is that the maps are horribly balanced. At least half of them give distinct advantages to one team over the other. The mode itself has potential, but setups like River City, where one team is given the Citadel and the other must cross open water to even contest the circle, really make for a poor experience.

1. Vote against Domination.
1.1. If it looks like Domination is going to win anyway, vote for a map that isn't imbalanced in Domination. (Roughly 50% are horribly balanced for Domination... do not vote for those.)
1.2. Otherwise, vote as you please for Map, or don't vote for Map at all.
2. If Domination is not an option and you have a 1x Game Mode multiplier, vote for your favorite of the 2 modes.
3. Otherwise, do not vote for mode in order to preserve your 2x for the next Step 1.

I love these types of threads I really do. Must've done at least 2000 plus matches and most of them regardless of the mode it always comes down to both teams just going to the same spot on the map and just club each other senseless. Take River City, turns into a deathball at the Citadel almost every time. Now they give us a mode where it literally is a deathball and people *****. In this game or almost any type PvP environment, it adapt or die.

They should rename domination skirmish in a designated area. That or just remove it because it's a bad mode.

It's actually really simple. You don't drop everyone 30,000 meters away from the objectives.

so, a match on tourmaline dessert or whatever its called just tied because the last surviving enemy camped on one of those huge rock formations.
none of our 5 surviving players had enough jump jet to get up there, 5 minutes of standing around and waiting for the timeout.

seriously this is the worst gamemode i played in a MP game of years.
hardly anyone cares for capping, its just everyone bundles around the dish, playing peek-a-boo as usual, just focused on a smaller area.
Caustic Crater hasnt changed a bit in terms of play, and polar highlands, one of the better maps has beed reduced to a small area where fights take place.

Cutting up quotes and responding to them out of context.

i hate it because at least one poor sap has to virtually suicide on a lot of maps just to keep your team in the game by stepping inside the circle while every other c*** hangs back, and your reward for leading a push, even if successful usually first or second down maybe a 100 or so damage and no reward while the guys at the back benefit and that's if the push is successful.

On many maps like river city (river side) there is no choice about it if you want to even stay in the game.

Which is exactly the issue. We want game modes and counter "deathballing" not enforce it.

the game always been a deathball. pugs fought under the rocks at forest colony, in the old one and in the new one since forever. caustic always been a nascar map (almost, in the first matches the fights did happen more on the 3-4 line than on the rest) frozen city had tunnel rushes we don't see today, then started with C3 push from north spawn since 2 years. River city instead can be usually fought in 4 ways. alpine peaks always been a king of the hill race, like therma for mordor, like is bog now for c4 d4 hill.

in quickplay you can't organize random people. people will stick to common tactics just because are proven to work and everyone knows what to do. cause win>fun.

in polar instead, it's narc the target and take a picnic.

you do realise that you don't actually have to step into the circle to stop the cap. you can just have to shoot the enemy. on some maps, yes, you have to get in. but on some maps, stepping into the circle actually puts you at a disadvantage. the enemy team can keep circling, picking you off because your team is stationery
