Literally every single game out there does this. The company that made the game, the company the sponsored the game or the company for the engine that the game runs on has these splash screens.
Be thankful you can actually SKIP them on MWO, I can think of a few games where you CAN'T skip them. Several of my XBox Games, you cannot skip these flash screens.
At the very least the screens for PGI and CryEngine last no more than about 5-10 seconds. EACH.
One of my games, the two flash screens together total up to a full 60 seconds, that's 30 seconds each, unskippable. One whole freaking minute of having to sit watching a stupid splash screen.
Now if MWO had screens like that, I could see the argument, but it doesn't, so I can't see the problem.
It's stupid to maintain this. Many games where it becomes obtrusive, I look for mods to remove all that crap. It adds ZERO to game play and only annoys us.
There is NO real excuse for this at all.

While some of it is wishing for the skies, and splash screens are a standard in all games, there are some that no self respecting game company would have omitted and would consider mandatory in a live product.
Guys this is the company that took over two years of development to add a back space you didn't have to endlessly tap, and why I'm called Cathy, I guess it's fortunate that I'm not just Ca

The chat stuff I posted about 3 years ago. Then again look how long it took them to get VOIP up in a pvp only game.

Stats API so that we don't have to log into our accounts to have a 3rd party programme collect them.
[UNIT] names displayed on friends list (+invites).
"Save configuration" button in mechlab, so we can swap between builds with only a 2-3 clicks.

Oh, and then there's the website, where you can check out your mech stats, and they are sorted in no logical order whatsoever AND you can't filter them or sort them yourself. So, if you want to rank your mechs top to bottom in K/D ratio, wins / loss, or whatever - nope, that's apparently too complicated. And that one I asked for well over a year ago, got a "we're looking into that" response, and then nothing, of course.

27. Chat enabled while searching for match
28. Able to make mechs 'favourite' on Thumbnail and to sort by favourites (better than ready deck of 4 and can hide unused mechs)
29. 10k CBill reward for being Ready when match launches

Also, better target pop-ups for UAVs. That you can be standing under one and never know that it is there is pretty pathetic.
