Based on feedback from community league organizers, we have changed the Game Mode to be used throughout this Tournament from Skirmish to Conquest. The Conquest Game Mode provides the most diverse gameplay and nearly negates the possibility of a Draw.

Welcome move in the right direction.

Now get them to add best of 3 or 5, add some map voting and clear up some of these other minor issues and we will really be making some headway!

Conquest is fine, 2/2/2/2 is not, varied tonnage for different game flavour.

Agreed, either way, a no duplicates rule would force a bit of variety rather than the chassis spam we saw during MLMW.

2/2/2/2 is the way to go, and conquest forces the teams to use the brain a little bit more than just go for kills...

2/2/2/2 sucks. It sucked when it was 3/3/3/3 and it will suck now.

The problem with 2/2/2/2 is that there is little reason to bring mechs that aren't at the top of their weight class. 35, 55, 75 and 100 tonners will make up the majority of the mechs, apart from some exceptional chassis like Ebon Jaguars and Arctic Cheetahs. Adding a tonnage limit too would improve diversity a LOT.

There are actually quite a few mechs which are tournament viable even though they are not top of their weight class:
Medium
BJ if you want high mounted Balistics/Energy
Cicada if you want a 3rd scout for overall speed
Nova if you want a pinpoint close range knife fighter
Crab if you want a mech with a small profile
Heavy
Ebon Jaguar if you want a large weapon payload
Hellbringer if you want a clan ECM heavy
Thunderbolt because of reasons (there are many)
Archer for SRM spam
Assault
Battlemaster, Banshee, Mauler, Stalker, Warhawk Highlander IIC are all better than an Atlas, King Crab or Direwolf for Conquest (The 100t Kodiak could be top of the class depending on how it is implemented, so the Assault section may be dominated by this or one of the other older chassis)

Most of those mechs you have listed wont see any use in the top teams that will make it to the final.
The X5 ton mechs will get taken because theres no reason not to take the extra weight and armor to trade with.

The only X0 ton mechs that will be taken are the ones with absolute performance enhancing features, JJS for specific maps/tictacs or OP quirks

Im not saying that they will be taken over the top weight variants.
You will probably see 35 ton mechs for the light slot (maybe also the 30t Arctic Cheetah).
The 55 ton mechs for the Medium slots is pretty safe to assume unless a team is adapting a specific strategy I had listed above.
The heavies are also pretty open in terms of which mechs will be bought, as there are loads of reasons not to bring a 75 ton mech in favour of other harder hitting or strategical possibilities I had listed above. Especially the SRM Archer (-5 Tons) is a beast in short range battles.
As for the assaults, it all depends on how the Kodiak is going to be when it arrives. The Direwhale and the King Crabs are just too slow for Conquest. The Atlas is OK, but there are better assaults that can dish out more damage with the same speed... although... strike out the Stalker from my earlier list.. that mech is also too slow.

I dont really understand what the problem is. A lot of people say "Meta" like it is something bad. There is a meta in all games and it is changing constantly with each and every patch. You just cant expect teams playing on the highest level not playing what works best, actually most players look to the top teams to learn from them. And the same should be the case for the most important tournament in mwo. The tournament will take almost 6 month with a couple of changes due to patches. I am pretty sure you are going to see teams changing what they bring over the time and adapt to the changes made to the game. We have seen this for the last couple of weeks in MRBC and it was awesome. Most comp players will tell you that chassi restrictions are better than tonnage restrictions, they open up more possibilities. Everybody should be happy about that. So please stop complaining that you don't get to see your favorite mech back from the tabletop days, that is simply bad right now. This is not the tabletop, and it is good it is not. This is a game of its own, with its own dynamics, please embrace them, be excited about what teams will come up with and develop the meta right in front of your eyes. Be more excited instead of complaining and wining all the time. After all, it is so amazing to have a tournament like this lined up. I am looking forward to it, no matter if everything is going to be perfect or not.

Remember the Tournement will freeze on the May patch.
