I've been reading over numerous threads and I have come to a conclusion...

This is gonna suck when EVERYONE is piloting a friggin' ATLAS!!!

I thought the idea here was combined-class, multiplayer co-op MMO?!

Everyone was so excited about this NOT being an arms race to see who
can fine-tune their 100-tonner first... What happened?!

I plan to purchase a Founders' Pack in the near future, but I am looking more forward
to a quality Medium Mech (that's faster than a Hunchback) than a damn ATLAS!

Am I the only one who is going to find this game to be a complete dissapointment
when I'm constantly surrounded by Mechs who's paint I can't even scratch?

playing a fast medium... Even if most people start playing Atlas'es they'll soon learn that those few quick nippy mediums and lights keep running rings around them...

personaly I don't think it will be that bad but if it is were going to have fun teaching them the error of their ways.

Going to be hard for everyone to pilot an atlas with drop tonnage limits.

All Atlas teams will lose. Then people will get the message and start diversifying. Or they wont, and keep losing.

well Personally think that people will have such a die hard fandom for their particular mechs that we will likely see a wide variety in the field, since from what I read, most people are talking about all their different variants, though the Atlas and hunchback are the 2 most common, and will likely have at least 1 of these on both sides, per match, I don't forsee an entire match being made of nothing but the two, especially since I plan to catapult, Jenner, trebuchet, and any other support mech I can think of later on down the line.

I don't know if you're right T Decker, however I know I'll try an Atlas, but definitely that won't be my thing. My sweet spot is in the 70/75 tons range, that's what I liked to manage while playing the tabletop Battletech game and I don't see why this game should be any different.

Furthermore, from what I read around here seems there'll be room for everyone, including light mech pilots.

The problem here is that the polls are contradictory.
The Founders Polls show that most people bought the Catapult, followed by the Atlas.

Other Polls on the subject show that most people will be in the medium/heavy range.

But I guess that the Devs have something implemented that the lances aren't just 12 Assaults, but that the matchmaking forces mixed lances.
Besides: If 12 Assaults fight 11 other Mechs, one fast Scout will take their base in the blink of an eye without them being able to get back there fast enough.

On a last note: The game is not out yet and we know way too little to be really discussing this. Just wait and see. If you buying a Foudners hinges on the question whether your chosen Mech will be useful on the battlefield... well, then Foudners is probably not for you, sorry.

Im not "your dear" but i appreciate your good wishes. <_<
From your name i can assume your a WoT-Player, or do you just like tanks? :D

Nonetheless do i think youre pretty wrong. Either you dont know battletech or MW2+3, or youre just jumping into conclusions.

What makes you think i would go 1vs1 against an atlas? I will ambush, flank, leg and assist other players with LRMS, GAUSS or other long range weapobs while on the move while the atlas lumber forwards, slowly and clumsily.

Wait, everyone is going for the Atlas?
When did this happen? Did I miss the announcement?
I know I'll be sticking to my Jenner and other lighter mechs.
Especially the Crab, if it comes out. Although, despite my love for it, it will probably take a back seat for my light mechs.

Actually, yes, I'm quite sure that there are medium mechs that will EXCEL in the role of anti-assault.

If you have trouble wrapping your head around that concept, here is an analogy for you:

Tank Destroyer.

To the OP, your speculation is 100% wrong.

Currently (and this will change), there are no restrictions to drop builds (who takes what). I have yet to see an all Atlas team and I can guarantee you they will fail.
