According to my unit's lore expert, there are no Nightstars until they restart production in 3058. :(

I wouldn't complain if they added it though.

That's not entirely accurate. As I posted in the OP, ComStar has some 9J model Nightstars according to the master unit list.
http://www.masteruni...r---renaissance

It's organized by lightest to heaviest so you'll need to go to the bottom.

To support you, I may quote this on the MUL:

WHAT IS THE MUL?

- The Master Unit List is an official Catalyst product, one that Catalyst provides for free to its fans. It is every bit as official as any TRO or sourcebook, if not more in many cases.

- The MUL undergoes continuous amount of fact check and is constantly being updated. So unlike a static print TRO, the MUL is able to be updated should something change. If a unit appears on the MUL, then enough validation was done to determine that "Yes, this unit existed and is not pure rumour."

- This does not mean that said unit will ever see its stats published: that is not the purpose of the MUL. While the MUL does serve as a very useful resource for Battle Value, Alpha Strike stats, and image art, the MUL's primary purpose is to provide a list of all known units in the universe, and their faction availability.

- That something is not on the MUL does not mean it does not exist. The concept of "the needs of fiction" still apply to the BattleTech universe. Not every factory, vehicle and handgun in the universe has been documented, nor will they ever be. The MUL is what we know: what has been documented in canon.

- Sarna.net is not a canon source. If Sarna lists a Mech and the MUL doesn't, then the MUL is most likely correct (though we certainly do make mistakes). The MUL has access to internal information that Sarna does not.

http://bg.battletech...?topic=6620.210

So if the MUL lists the Nightstar as availabe to ComStar, it was. Plain and simple. However, it should be noted that the MUL also includes Mechs which were available in really, really tiny numbers. And considering the very short initial production run of the Nightstar and the fact that many would have gone with Kerensky, I assume ComStar only a handful of them. Too bad we do not have any information on ComStar's Nightstars.
I am not sure if we ever had a chassis that was exclusively available to ComStar, but from my point of view that is no problem at all.

I mean, the cool looks, the fluff, the specs... what's not to like? And, I am a ComStar-fan. So give me the ComStar-exclusives.

PS: just for the record, the Nightstar is not my number one wish for the assaults, but it is in the Top-3. Posted Image

PPS: the Gunslinger is number two. The Defiance Self Protection Force's commander's ride? Yes, please!

Tiny numbers in existence does not mean, in MWO sense, that the mech should not and will not be included, however. Take the Highlander. That mech was as close to extinct as a mech could be prior to the Clan invasion, yet we were stomping around in HGN for a while.

The Highlander, Black Knight, King and regular Crab are supposed to be rarities outside of the Comguards I think.

Eh, a bit too far from original and too much of the MWO-dustrial cliche.

neat take, very much Marauder DNA.... Tryhards would become Cryhards over the low hanging arms though! Posted Image

I messaged Tina about this mech & thread. She's passed it on to Russ & the art team! :D

Obviously it's not going to be the next mech but it's on their radar.

Good work! Let's hope for the best.

After five "classic" Mechs in a row (for the IS) I think they can give TRO:3025 a little rest for a while, and start exploring the other TROs, especially when it comes to assault Mechs. Be it Star League Mechs or response to the Clans: the IS has amazing designs ready for us.

I would pay cash money for this.

I absolutely will not pay cash money for the Cyclops.

Sell me a Nightstar.

Clans got their Kodiak.

IS needs something good, not the Cyclops.

Well, the Cyclops is ready to go, and if they are just passing it on to the art team and Russ now, we still won't see it for a while.

If we justified mechs based on "there's still one alive out there" then there's no point in discussing anything.

Forget the Nightstar. Where's the Devastator they teased us with at the start of the game?

It looks sort of like a Marauder-Shadow Cat hybrid. I like it!

There's good reason for that too. In the fluff for it, it's based on a modified Marauder chassis.

Yeah, but not unknown to the successor states.

Thank you very much!
Of course we have to plan months ahead for upcoming 'Mechs however, I've passed this thread along to the entire Art Team including Russ as well.

So, for me, I'm not buying the Cyclops but hopefully by late this year/early next year we'll get the Nightstar.

There's rare mechs in game, as long as there are combat ready mechs, it's %100 viable to be added.

Honestly, I'd say the Nightstar would be better than the Devastator. All its weapons are cockpit height, the Devastator's are waist high. The Nightstar has a variant that can load up a 400xl if desired, the Devastators are all slow. The Nightstar's arms would be extremely good at helping to spread dmg, the Devastator's would be just okay for spreading DMG.

Yet the Nightstar would be the rarest mech yet put in.

IDK, there's some other mechs that deserve the slot first.
