This might not be the correct place to post this but couldn't see a general tech support area. I've not played MWO for about 4 months (last time i did was shortly after the steam launch via steam).

A few friends and i were going to play yesterday lunchtime while at work. But everytime i tried to launch the game the MWO launcher window came up with a black screen then after a few moments says not responding. So i went through the normal checks (game file integrity check, graphic drivers, reboot machine) but still failed to launch. so i uninstalled and reinstalled. same problem. checked the forums and google for similar problems but none of the solutions helped.

So when i got home i tried on my home machine, to have the same problem with steam. This time i installed the standalone game from the MWO website, and still getting the same problem. So i have several questions

1. Is there an issue with MWO and Steam
2. Is there an issue with MWO and Windows 10 (though last time i played i was on win 10)

PC Specs. (Home)
CPU: i7 -4770k
RAM: 16GB
GFX: AMD R9 390
OS: Win 10 PRo 64bit

PC Spec (Work)
CPU: i5 2500k
RAM: 8GB
GFX: nvidia 460
OS: Win 10 Pro 64.bit

Ive actually had this problem before. The patcher almost seems kind of like an internet browser, if your internet is slow, or if PGI's servers are slow, then that can happen. If you sit there and wait for it to load.... it will eventually.

Otherwise make sure you add an exception in your firewall for the patcher, C:/program files/Piranha Games/Mechwarrior Online/Bin32/MWOPatcher.exe

I would also make an exception for all the exe's in that folder, and all the exe's in the Bin64 folder too

It kind of sounds like its a problem with your internet though, the patcher is extremely finicky if it doesn't go through your router correctly. Take a look at the router's settings and see if you can set it to allow MWO through the firewall. Maybe through one of their little gaming profiles they have in router?

But yeah, look up your router, and find out how to access it's configuration page through your browser. it will be a web address. browse through all the settings and look for anything that might be interfering

Hi,

Personally i don't think this is a internet speed problem as at work we have 100mb Up and 100mb down. at home i have 150mb down and 6mb up. and it would seem strange to have the same problem on two machines at two locations. Plus other games are patching/launching perfectly fine. Also 3 of the guys i work with where able to launch and play via steam yesterday.

Regarding firewalls, I've already got those exceptions made (maybe should have said that earlier).

Hmmm........ Hmmm...................................Ill keep thinking, But i think this requires technical support, which you will need to wait on for 3-15 business days. Which is 3 weeks. Hopefully someone can help.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. Which is a shame as I was going to be using MWO as one of the games I play for a 24hr gaming event/live stream to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support in a couple of weeks.

For testing, create a new account. You will need a different email address.

Or Drill to your saved games folder, MWO, profile, pilot name folder rename that folder. Steam and standalone uses the same folder for each pilot profile.

Also, previously, did you have the game setup to force it to use 32bit instead of the default 64bit? Is so one of the recent patches removed the forced 32bit option. The only workaround atm is to create a shortcut to bypass the launchpad.

I know it sounds silly, but do you have a game pad plugged in? Say, like an Xbox One controller plugged in via a USB cable? I had this same issue, which I resolved by unplugging my game pad.

Had to go through the omicron.log file to see that it was hanging on some DInput thing (I don't have the log file handy at the moment)

Hi guys

@ Tarl - i can't even get as far as entering my email address before the launcher locks up and becomes unresponsive. And i'm using the 64bit launcher. have reinstalled standalone and steam versions several times on both machines now.

@ Muzakman - you lovely lovely person. unplug xbox one controller and it works.
