Now that the Phoenix Hawk appears to be receiving it's gun, should other mechs like the Wolverine be remodelled to give them their guns back?

For pure looks yes, but why pick the wolverine, and it's gun. When the Battle Master needs a complete Gundam overhaul ?

I really don't like that aesthetic...
What about a custom geo?

Edit: spelling is hard...

I am indifferent as to the aesthetic. At least putting the guns in the mechs hand, gives that hand the appearance of function, something which the hands currently lack in this game.

I was just looking at my wolverine in game and thought "hang on a minute didn't this originally have a gun? and doesn't the Phoenix Hawk plan to have a gun to?"

YES! I want my Thunderbolt to have its giant arm-mounted "if it gets damaged I'll rip it off my arm and beat you to Death With its bulk" Sunglow Type 2 large laser! Not that tiny laserbox it has now. :)

The gun was always an odd aesthetic in MechWarrior IMO. It makes no sense what so ever to have.

Anyway, I don't think the Wolverine needs it (like no mech really NEEDS a gun), but I suppose it could be added just because. *shrug*

I love Thunderbolts, it's a shame that arm weapons look so tiny on it.

Guns for every gunslingin' mech! And if they make the Charger it better have that dinky little small laser pistol it was holding in one hand! :D

Now, off the top of my head from the 3025 TRO and original box set the mechs with handguns were, if memory serves:

Stinger,
Phoenix Hawk
Chameleon
Griffin
Wolverine
Charger
Battlemaster

Not actually that many, to be honest. The Wasp, Valkyrie and Crusader, despite being based on the Macross veritechs, did not in fact have handheld guns according to their artwork.

I'm a HUGE proponent of removing any trace of a hand held gun for all of the mechs. Cartoonish is the word I use. Almost as bad are the abomination of artwork that is currently on the Centurion, Dragon, etc, in place of the hand held gun.

The Griffon and Wolverine are not too bad, certainly preferable to the hand held guns and gray boxes on the Cent and Dragon.

I'd like to see them remodeled, to have them blended in to the arm. Oh, and the Battlemaster's canopy could use a update too ;)

As custom geometry? Why the hell not?!

I'd probably buy that (along with a round chin turret for the Wolvie)

Also, give Thunderbolt better weapon geometry. It looks really bad (and it's not even properly attached, it's off-tilt on the arm)

Why do I get the feeling that PGI will not be adding the rifle to its actual model?

As lore and canon as it may be. Im not very fond at all of gun arms. Dosent look like someone could make in real life, on a real life mech. Gundam and Macross can have their gun arms, Battletech should be unique in that gun arms really arent needed. And yes I preordered the whole Phoenix package, but thats because all else regarding features, loadouts and such than the gun arm on the PH.
