Hey Everyone,

I've been playing around with some loadouts and the command console caught my eye today. Not sure if it was worth the 3 tons, I did some searching here on the forums for opinions on it. Unfortunately it seemed like the most recent post on it was from like Feb 2015 and it seemed to have a very negative view at that point in time and the stats that people were reporting were:

Command Console:
+5.25% Zoom
+6% Sensor Range
-20.5% Target Info time

Now, this is not what the statistics are in the Mechlab as of right now. It lists the stats and bonuses as:

Zoom Boost 30%
Sensor Range 6%
Targeting Time 42.5%

Are these stats correct? Has the CC been buffed since 2015? Is it worth the 3 tons?

Command Console is not worth 3 tons on any mech.
Until PGI makes some buff for it, the one will remain completely useless.

The stats in the Mechlab are accurate. It's debatable if it's worth 3 tons however. Most will say "No. Stick another DHS, Laser or Ton of Ammo in there!" however, if you only got 1 critical slot available, your head doesn't have a weapon in it and you've 3 tons available it IS nice to have.

Another question I just thought of...does the 42.5% targeting time boost affect the time it takes for LRM's to lock on?

No. Target Info Gathering and Missile Lock On are two separate mechanics. Artemis does, however, at the cost of 1 ton and 1 critical slot per missile launcher.

CC can be marginally worth it in rare cases where you're left with just that one slot free, but can easily free the tonnage. But even then only if you have ALREADY put in BAP (gives similar benefits but in a more weight efficient package).

It's nice as such, especially on long range builds. I run BAP+CC on a Zeus which ran out of slots without ditching Endo.

command console paired with the targetting info module is great for instantly finding out where enemy weak points are...

But seeing as it seems like 90% of the player base doesn't know where their R button is, most people don't take advantage of it

There's very few mechs which end up with the combination of a spare 3 tons and only 1-2 slots free so using it ever is pretty sparse.

The one real boost for it is the +42% to target data time which is pretty nice for brawling MPL boats so you don't waste any fire on fully armored components. Most won't have the tonnage free though, I think the Battlemaster-3M is the only one I've encountered that naturally has the spot for it.

Overall it's a pretty lackluster piece of hardware, would be nice if they split it up into a few groups like the TC's so it was something people might actually want to use.

My Orion is the only Mech that had enough room and tonnage to mount the CC

Tired it and took it off
