But this is fine

Yeah, I know right. Plus, everyone knows that Ebon Jags are super tanky just like Phracts.

If only Ebon Jags were easy to pick apart and didn't have any structure quirks.

Oh wait...

Fyi, you're also comparing a near top-tier Clan mech with an obsoleted IS mech.

You can flip that and compare an Ice Ferret with a Blackjack. Suddenly, IS OP!!!!!

Really needs some armor redistribution.

That's already the max engine.

XL doesn't make an engine faster, it just makes them weigh less.

The Cataphract 4X is the victim of having a pathetically small engine in TT, and thus it inherits a tiny engine in MWO because PGI usually uses a formula to determine max engine from stock engine (with some deviations like the Urbie).

The Cauldron Born comes stock with a big engine, so it doesn't care about engine caps.

With that being said, I'd be okay with it if they boosted the Phract 4X's engine up to 280-300 to let it reach the "standard" heavy mech speed of at least ~70 kph (4/6 MP in TT terms).

I bought a Cataphract 4X because I love dakka but as soon as I saw how slow it was I sold it

Probably only had it for a day

This was last year before the quirks and the structure stuff

But even now it would be a hard buy it’s just toooo slow for a heavy

PGI made a lot of decisions in 2012/2013 that are still in play, for whatever reason.

CTF-4X engine cap, CPLT-K2 hardpoint reduction, CPLT-K2 torso twist nerf, number of module slots for a bunch of mechs, etc.

I forgot which previously Unseen hero got this controversy.. but IIRC it was a 70 ton mech and it would've had a similar cap to the Cataphract-4X... and it got "twitty fixed".

Maybe someday the Cataphract-4X gets "twitty fixed".

Bounty Hunter

It's similarly speed gimped in TT, with the sub 250 stock engine
Whale speed stock

Is there a difference between Clan Gauss and IS Gauss? I honestly don't know. I have limited experience with Gauss Rifles and the only ones I've ever used were IS.

Never paid attention before. If you can't tell, I don't like Gauss Rifles very much.

100% functionally identical

Aside from being 3 tons lighter and 1 Crit smaller

So, better, simply put

Generic robot shooter -- where every Mech and every weapon should be exactly the same -- here we come.

Or better yet, and for ****'s sake, play Hawken already. I'm sure they'll appreciate an increase in player count.

Stuff that doesn't matter at all

38% faster, with better hit boxes, and higher hardpoints

That structure would matter, except 20 extra HP is a joke. You'll take that from your friendlies let alone from any of the half dozen 50 point laser alphas poking out every 4 seconds.

You're also forgetting the Jag actually has 5 less tons to workwith... and it's still better in every way.

I was worried if I added that in I might collapse my own skull facepalming.
