-Specialist mechs.
-House quirks that are actually interesting.
-No house quirk involves disfavoring a weapon type.
-Be a balanced underdog in terms of both narrative and relevance without going over the edge with the edge. Enjoy all the edge of not being in an overpopulated mainstream plot protagonist faction without cutting yourself like some Smoke yiff or Ikea Republic ("Look at me I joined the faction meant to stop existing I bet I'll contribute to rewriting canon!"). Marik is the only other house that can say this for themselves.
-Least space yiff-reliant faction.
-The main house that keeps battletech from becoming peacetech.
-We have Russia, embodiment of stronk.
-We have China, embodiment of humanity f*ck yeah. Also good if you want something Asiatic without associating with weeaboo.

On a serious note: if you're sick of the never-ending Clan is OP / IS is OP argument, Liao is the House for you. Always vote to attack other IS Houses and never defend against the Clans (assuming the Clans manage to fight through the other IS Houses to get to Liao). That way your matches will always be IS vs IS so it won't matter whether Clan is OP or IS is OP.
