I have both a champion mech, and the original one. Do i only need to rank up one and the experiance counts for both of them? Because i can't seem to select the other xp tree.

They are the same chassis, so XP is gained and used together

XP is gained for a specific variant. Champion mechs count as the same variant. So yes

I do not think you or any of us will be able to get that title since it requires you to own a Gold Khan Mech. Those have, however, been removed from the store. I wanted myself a gold Nova some months ago and even the customer could not help.

You cannot,
it started as $500 on a Gold Clan Mech from the Clans (invasion wave 1) package, there was a huge community backlash about charging $500 for essentially just a Mech with a custom paint job causing them to throw in the Masikasi package as well, even after that it was still effectively $260 for 1 Mech with a custom paint job. But there were those who purchased them. I would love to have enough income to be able to justify that to myself.


After parting ways with the former publisher PGI stopped selling Gold Mechs, so now you cannot get one, or the “The Devoted” title

I didn't even know they removed the Gold mechs from the store. They were still on sale for quite a while after the Clan release

I'd like to address the reason PGI dropped this. As already stated, PGI used to work with IGP as a publisher and quit selling Gold Khan packages when that relationship ended. IGP wanted the $500 dollar price tag and PGI thought it was high. The reason the dropped it was to get rid of an old shame. When that pack dropped, there was a lot of bad press about how MWO was vaporware and they were just going to rob players blind. I think they just want to distance themselves from that.

The split happened mid to late 2014, and it was arround mid 2015 that I first saw someone complain they could not get a Gold Mech, I checked and noticed they were no longer available, I do not know precisely when they were removed from the Clans pack page.

I wasn't trying to provide a detailed retelling. Just why they don't sell them anymore. I was trying to avoid a wall of text, but since you want it, here it goes.

They were available after for a time after, as Jedi said, but they changed what was in the offer. I was just the Mech at first, then the split. PGI couldn't just pull it. Some people had already purchased and there would be headaches. Either refunds or legal proceeding, maybe both. They added the highest level of purchase pack to each gold Mech. Now the gold Mech came with a Masakari pack. Then the Forbes article hit. Forbes didn't do good research. The picture was the backside of a Jenner and presented as what you we're purchasing for $500 dollars. They also indicated it was the only way to get Mechs in the game. That's when PGI decided to cut their losses with the whole mess and pulled it.

That seems like a long way to say business partners forced the issue and PGI really didn't want to and had to remove it after the bad press that PGI was worried about in the first place.

Edit: I suppose I could have avoided the confusion if I'd said after the relationship ended instead of when the relationship ended.

IIRC there were supposed to be a limited number of each gold mech variant. I am guessing that once that limit was reached, they were removed from the store.

Some made it there, others didn't. Obviously, the TBR and DWF sold out the gold mechs first. Last I checked, though, and before they were completely pulled, there were SOME left for more than half of the gold mech packages.

And again, the above wall o' text explains pretty precisely when/why the golds were removed.

FWIW, I'd like to read that Forbes article that Spike Brave mentions above. I think I'll go look that up. Sounds ridiculous, which is pretty much the going rate at Forbes...

I remember the backwards Jenner picture and no mention of the packs being less than $500, but this is a great example of the hate and discontent. It's been two and a half years and there was a lot of garbage. Perhaps I'm just blurring several of them together. I just found it ridiculous that there was no statements inclusive of the entire situation. I'll agree that $500 dollar mechs are nuts. What wasn't mentioned was the pricing for the other packs. Sure $240 is a lot, but it works out to around ten dollars a mech which is what all the other packs do. That is before you figure in any extras. The wasn't any reporting on the release road map either. They did announce when these mechs would be available for C-bills. So if you didn't want to pay you could just wait and get them for C-bills which just cost time. I found the whole thing sickening. Lazy reporting and fact checking is NOT good reporting. Guess it was to much effort to read the page and FAQ where they got the picture.

On a personal note, I would like to thank people who bought the Gold or any other mech packs. You pay for a game that others can play, without any content barriers from cost. Without that support, the game would not make money and fold. Thank you <o.
