Just make your own unit. 1 man unit = no change for you from how it is now. You still play with all the other units and don't drop with folks w/o tags.
The rumors of MWO death are greatly exaggerated.

Patch notes ideally would have been ready on Friday but there huge - yes the goal will be to release them today late business hours for us

Will read the lengthy patch notes and play some matches before I say anything more on the matter. I don't like to pass judgment before I even see or play the game they have in store for us.

Well, I can see your quandary. For FYSA, this is not a short sighted change by PGI. In fact, they (Russ) DID NOT want to do it for a very long long time. The outcry to do it from the pug crowd was so loud and shrill that they (Russ) caved and we have what will come tomorrow. So you are in a minority of folks w/o a unit who do not want a split queue. Sorry about that.
Some other thoughts as you decide to stay unit less or tag up...
-PGI wants CW biased to unit play.
-PGI wants units to be <100 folks.
-PGI wants "big" units fighting each other.
-PGI wants the solo CW queue to ease new players into CW so they eventually tag up with a unit.
-As it stands for P3, unit-less players will have much less impact on the "politics" of CW. You will just be two random groups smashing into each other for 4 drops with little say on when/where to attack and coordinate pushes on the map.
-Unit-less players will not earn rewards for the P3 CW meta game (MC).
Unfortunately, the direction they are going is not catering to your specific style. I recognize it isn't optimal for you but at least they are picking a direction. Now we all hold our breath to see how it works.
It aint hard to create a unit or disband a unit. Both queues are still open to you. Just think a bit creative mate. Wanna drop with -MS-?.... Create the DVD1 unit and do it. Wanna drop solo queue?.... drop unit and do it. Problem solved. No charge.
Feel free to come on over to the StranaMechty TS and drop with us (-SA-). We put public groups together all the time and are mostly nice and cuddly.

How many of the casual chips and beer units will disband, disgusted to be forced to play with the as good as cheating tryhard herpderp uberpro units and go as unitless groups into "pugcw"?
How loud will the crys of the big Units be when they realize after a week or two they will need to wait for hours for a game cause nobody wants to be roflstomped over and over again by the same collection of nolifer progamers lurking in Unit CW ?
Teamplay ? Yes absolutely there should be only teams in CW. Only unit queue vs only pugcw queue ?
Baddest invention since the icecream blowtorch.
We will see what we will see.

I really hope they put in a lot more effort to attract units to play Community Warfare and remain playing it. As there last major update for it this is there last shot to impress people otherwise it's going down the drain with all the players they lost in the steam release.

As is typical though, pgi is oblivious to the fact that this has potential to be a BIG DEAL.

The guy with the idea of an alt holding your unit command is great. It takes about 1min to make a gmail account so there is that.
You will not be able to join tagged players in CW without a unit tag. At least that is how I understand it. We will know for sure tomorrow.

My expectations though are that PGI will flub some major factors and that like most things it will actually take them 2 years to get it sorta right. Look at Clans and balance - at this point there's a big segment of the game who things broken balance IS how it's supposed to be it's been broken so long. I expect something similar with CW.
