I really do wish that most of the Clops variants got ECM like they deserve, though. I'd understand the quad-ballistic boat lacking it, but every other one really ought to have it.

Sure it does, it has a passive boost to the team:

The Tacticon B-2000 Battle Computer is a modified version of the standard Sensor suite found in the Head component of most 'Mechs. As with the Life Support system and the Cockpit, the standard Sensor suite is a piece of Fixed Equipment; it takes up 0 usable slots and weighs 0 tonnes.
The Sensor suite is what allows your 'Mech to use its standard targeting abilities.
The B-2000 Battle Computer is a special version of this standard Sensor suite, and is currently exclusive to the Cyclops chassis. It replaces the standard Sensor suite, takes up 0 usable slots, and weighs 0 tonnes.
The B-2000 Battle Computer provides the following benefits, on top of the standard abilities of the basic Sensor suite:
• Boosts the standard Sensor Range of the Cyclops 'Mech.
• Boosts the standard Sensor Range of any ally 'Mechs within radius of the Cyclops.

Was hoping for Crusader, but the Hero camo looks fine lol, I think the Cyc may well suck, but I don't really care. I can tick another mech off the list of wants

yeah thats added by the dev team. The MECH ITSELF adds nothing really new to the game. Fluffy things added after the fact dont count in that.
They could give every mech in the game something like that but they didnt. Why? Because THEY even knew this mech wasnt going to add anything new to the game and needed to add SOMETHING different to get ppl to want to buy it.

and several times their number say its useless to do. A waste of a mech. Which if your post count/age here shows anything you should have known that already
- thats not a knock on either of those but anyone whose been here for more than a day should REALLY know what people think of anyone who puts lrms on those mechs, what the more vocal people think of that.

wait.. whats the battlemaster again? isnt it 85 with the same engine?
5 tons will matter THAT much?
and yay missiles
Yes... yes it matters (in table top).
4/6 STD engine mech
75-85 tonner has 42.5 tons of free space for armor/weapons etc
90 tonner has 41 tons of free space
There is a slight case to be made if you're running max armor as 1.5 tons isn't crippling. Now if you're a designer and you don't max armor on your 4/6 90 ton mech... you're an idiot who should be fired or shot as a traitor to your nation.

The sensor buff is a good start. Regardless of whether it will truly make the Cyclops stand out, I'm looking forward to this mech.

Well, the question is: at this point what mech would add something really new to the game?
All mechs to come are more or less redundant.
The easiest way to make them stand out is to add special abilities like the Tacticon B-2000.
