I'm another solo player who would take weekly contracts with one faction or another and reply to call to arms, just to sit through unit clubbing after unit clubbing to accumulate the mechbays at level 2 rep with a faction.
Oh, how my eyes would light up when, on those rare occasions, I found myself in a pug v pug match. These matches tended to be more closely contested and about half the time I happened to be on the slightly better organized pug. Once or twice in my career, I was even in upsets where a good pug beat a bad unit.
I looked forward to this release as a solo pugger, because I imagined I'd get closer, more interesting pug v pug CW games. I haven't figured out where to find these games yet, with the new system. I haven't found a single match as a freelancer, and only got one call to arms for a scouting mission, which never actually developed into a match.
Do I really need to make a one man unit so I can get in the Merc queue rather than the Freelance queue? Won't that just throw me back into solo unit pugs up against the big unit facerolling grind? If I'm in a solo unit, how does that impact the likelihood that I'll ever get an invite to someone else's real unit? Are there awesome pug v pug drops full of solo unit players going on right now and I'm just missing them because I'm hesitant to make the commitment to Merc over freelancer?
All in all, I never was a big CW player, but I feel like more than ever, the barriers to entry for a solo player have been raised. Which, I know, is kind of the point of CW--group play--but it was nice to change up the solo queue play once in a while, and I liked the rewards.
it all comes down to communication(VOIP).You can beat any unit, even with a pug, when there is a plan in progress
that everyone follows.Problem is most people give a **** about it, even if someone take up the effort to lead.
