I will also point out that the Thunderbolt 9SE was a variant primarily used by the ELH (based on the older 5SE which is not in MWO).

Well, in fairness are we sure it's not hers? The camo and name are not what I'd expect, but does the Twilight of the Clans ever describe her Mech's paint scheme or name? It's not what I'd have expected but black Vikings aren't really any more strange in Battletech than a lot of other things.
100% not? No. But nothing ever written remotely hints at a Vikings Fetish.
It fits about as well as Vlad Ward painting his TBR up like a Pokemon, or that Salome Ward's Wolverine was painted like Wolverine from the X-Men.. There's nothing that says they didn't, but also absolutely nothing to even remotely hint that they would. And Ariana's character as written was a very by the book, traditions officer. Her quarters were always described as spartan, she hated letting orderlies set stuff up for her, etc. So spend excessive amounts of time on an elaborate Viking Knotwork paint job that needed to be fixed after every mission for a lot of man hours? It just doesn't fit.
If we were talking about the personal mech of the Iron Jarl or someone who made themselves a Figurehead, it might. Winston and the ELH it doesn't. It also had a Command Console/Second Cockpit. Sleipner does not.
Sleipner is a beautiful mech. Absolutely beautiful. But in no way does it fit the SLDF tradition loving, by the book, African descent General of the ELH.

Yeah, good points overall. I suspect it will be Winston's and we'll just have to adjust to it. TBH I'll mostly be happy if she gets recognition, but with the caveat that a spartan/traditional style would have been more appropriate.
Good point about the CC too, and I think the mech was described in general as being a standard 11-A (with modifications for the CC I assume).
I do like the imagery of Vlad in a Pokemech! Maybe something more mopishly angry though.

Yeah, just felt Japanese poke-kid camo made as much sense as trying to turn Ariana Winston into Ragnar Lothbrok, ya know?
Anyhow, I suspect you're right because she is arguably the best known Cyclops pilot in lore (William Cameron only showed in one book, and as more of a red shirt ensign, sadly), and because someone probably thought "Bruh, whats more Eridani Light Horse than an 8 LEGGED HORSE BRUH!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Ignoring that Sleipner was not a "light horse" but more akin to a Percheron or Andalusian.
I just wish they wouldn't make such stretches and liberties with major canon characters. Plenty of opportunities for that with lesser or made up characters.

^ There's no room for your lore-mongering here.

well, I would have thought there was no room for a head inside a ******, either, but well, there ya go.
Looks like it's amazing what one can find room for if they try hard enough.
*shrugs*
