Now I do remember PGI saying that color schemes would be something that we can buy. But what if the color scheme we want to buy is not available?
I believe it would be mutually beneficial for PGI to allow a Mech painting scheme within the game that allows us to paint our mech how we want it other than buying pre-made camo. Once you have made the changes and saved the template you can upload it to their database. Perhaps since you uploaded it so that they can potentially make money off of other people that like it, they give it to you for free. This way no unit is left out, and they have to do less artwork and can focus on game mechanics. We as the artist can add our lore fluff for it, explain where it comes from, what unit it represents, etc.
Comments? Questions?
Amarus Cameron your nucking futz?

lol...it would be nice if the community is put to work here.
I assume guidelines as to what is acceptable would come into play.

Guidelines would be based one what application they can use to allow us the ability of putting camo in game. If they even like the idea, that is.

it may not happen at the initial launch, but I bet they might add it at a later date.

I'd like it to work like the TF2 Community Workshop. I know Hayden down in the Fan Art forum has been doing some incredible recolors, and I think it would serve him well to actually make a buck or two if he was able to turn them into applicable textures.
It'd be nice to be allowed to upload your own for free, so the people actually doing the work don't have to shell out to actually use their own work. It would also be a good way for clan artists to distribute to their own clan without the entire clan having to pay the artist individually for uniform paint-schemes.
Also, I don't want to have to pay every time I decide to change. Make them like hats in a way. Store them in my library until I want to use them.

Well, I think there should be some user created content, but making it 100% like TF2, the "best hat simulator on the world" is not the way it should be made.
P.S. You do not steal cookies, right?

As much as this might be a cool idea, I think the TTP (Time to "wang") would be roughly :30, even if the community as a whole is a touch more mature than average.

Yeah, sounds like a bad idea. I don't particularly want to be playing a game and run across an Atlas covered head to toe in penises which is exactly what will happen.
On the other hand I'd like to see every Mech have numerous "decal" locations over the chassis where players can put stuff, and have the ability for players to create their own decals. So a player could have their Corp tag on one arm, Rank insignia on the other, and a ***** over their heart.

I only want user created content to be visible to others if its vetted by PGI. I don't want to have to see the inevitable ***** mechs. Even if its G rated, I don't want to have to deal with mechs that look like they were done by a 3year old.
FWIW user created skins can be an issue even if allowed on the user's machine only. WoT for example has a hit box skin set that maps where all the weak spots are on a tank. I'd rather not see that sort of thing as an option.

I put this up as a suggestion more or less because Clan Smoke Jaguar has some talented artists and I want the 2nd Jaguar Guards camo as my own
Ulterior motive...I has it!
Also, it would be cool, because I know that not all unit camos are going to be made. So let us not have anyone left out.
As for the stupid camos, yeah perhaps if you can reason your way through a PGI vetting, then yeah that would be good too, but that adds overhead.
