For some time now I have been wondering if there are wipes occurring in the beta? (by wipe I mean players loosing all the things they have acquired and having to start over, this seems to not be all too uncommon in betas) I have tried to find answers but no one seems to have mentioned this before.

This gets me to my main point.
When the founders finally get into the beta should we be expecting any kind of wipes and at what points should they be expected?
Will we be able to start to accumulate xp and c-bill at the beta and will the premium account star when we get in? (This way we would be getting a "head start" which some one is sure to find "unfair")
Or should we consider this a purely "try everything out and tell what is broken, unbalanced or down right awesome" (aka. a real beta)

thats because the first rule of beta is.......... well you know.
NDA prevents anyone from saying atm

Edit:I was speaking primarily to this part:"For some time now I have been wondering if there are wipes occurring in the beta?"

During any closed beta or even open beta its just a given theres gonna be wipes so ya learn not to get too attached to all the stuff u may collect. Theres a faq that explains all of this, Founders get wiped as well and anything they may have spent from the perks they paid for will be restored after the wipe. It's been said in this faq, look for it, it will explain all the things that will happen in each phase prior to full release.

Nope, I read there will be no wipe after the start of the open beta (Question was asked to find out about the start of "premium accounts" etc.)

Pretty sure I saw Russ state otherwise a couple of days ago. He linked a thread from the beta forums... which doesn't help those without beta access.

From Bryan Ekman 4Jul2012

For one, standard retail ALPHA/BETA definitions do not apply to online F2P games. The game will always be in development, which means, new features and content will roll out frequently. We have not announced hard dates for Open Beta or Release. Our goal has always been to hit Open Beta before the end of summer.

Founder's:
  • On August 7th, Founder's early access will begin and still considered part of the Closed Beta period.
  • Player's will have access to all of their Founder's perks and rewards.
  • -->These rewards will be reset from time-to-time during until Open Beta. (new)<--
  • When MWO goes Open Beta, all Founder's perks and rewards will be reset to 100% for the final time.
  • Once in Open Beta, your premium account bonuses will begin, and any MC used will be permanently spent.

II. Operation: Inception/Founders Packs

Q: What is this Operation:Inception?
A: It is a promotion by Piranha Games. You can buy one of three different Founders Packs after the 19th June that will grant you, along with different other things, early access to the game at 7th August ( For information about the three packs, visit this page). After this date, there may still be resets of the game but you will receive your Founders Packs Assets at the 7th August. These resets will only end when Open Beta starts and you will get your Founder's Package anew then. Also, technically the Foudner's Period is still closed beta, so it is possible that everyone who buys a Founders Pack will have to sign an NDA.

So, either contradicting statements or very bad comprehensive reading by me...

P.S. regardless of what is going to happen, most important bit (and was a bit of an issue to me before the explanation) is that you will get your complete founder's package back if/when our stats are reset. Incl premium time.

Which begs the question- Will founders then have to abide by the NDA? EDIT: Another post has answered that question.
There was no mention of that being a requirement (seems to have changed now though) when founders packs were purchased. And if so, what will happen to a founder if they break NDA? Will they be permabanned or just banned until open beta? And if permabanned how are they going to go with the inevitable bad press as well as some very real possibility of legal challenge.

NDA is a real contract that if broken can be punishable by law (fine etc.) So those who break it can expect a legal challenge (I heard about people breaking an NDA and having to pay $50.000 (another game though...)

P.S. Pro Tip: Don't break the NDA...

I personally will not be wanting to break NDA. I just don't want to see people do it, get banned and then start generating bad press over it with "I PAID MONIES FOR THIS WE NEED CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS" all over the net.

one small problem though is the founder pack purchase on the website didnt have anything about nda at least initially tied to the purchase that I saw and the access on August 7th was always listed front and center. If they wanted to make that NDA ironclad to cover those who are purchasing they should have required them to agree explicitly to the NDA at the time of purchase. So I hope they either got some boiler plate covering that or they may end up having to refund the $$ when they kick someone over the NDA after August 7th whose purchase didn't clearly state an NDA was tied to it. Could they argue the NDA if its mentioned somewhere in fine print on a linked page deep within their website? Not really. Could they still require and NDA before they actually let them in? Yeah, but if someone refused at that point to sign the purchaser may have grounds to get their founder purchase money back and then some.

bad part is that was edited july 13th. I really wish they didnt edit posts with critical information like that. Did it say that before a bunch of ppl purchased the founder deals? Thats the important part.

GUYS GUYS THE INFO ABOUT BETA WIPES IS NEW TO NON-BETA PLAYERS.

IT WAS RECENTLY RE-UPDATED IN THE FAQ.

AS STATED ABOVE THERE WILL BE RESETS UNTIL OPEN BETA BUT FOUNDER'S BONUS WILL BE RESET TOO.

All this talk about NDA is really unconstructive

Yes we all now understand that there will be resets. However I think the discussion of NDA for founders and the inherent problems that could pose is valid.

Ah, there's not much we can do about it. People will break the rules either out of ignorance or nonchalance.

There are penalties and warnings given out to NDA breakers yes, but the mods will probably not discuss what they are with the public nor reveal what measures had been taken with previous offenders.

We'll just have to wait and see.

$50 whole dollars? How did they ever recover?!

Also, I think the NDA probably will last until August 7th, if not shortly before then. That way people will have time to be exposed to the game and see if they wanna fork out 30, 60, or 120 dollars.

Guys, don't forget one fact about the FAQ:

it is MINE. It is NOT an official FAQ. I only deal out the information I can find. So, as soon as that bit of information about the wipes leaked through to the rest of the forums and to me, I edited it into the FAQ for everyone who is new to read, so as to prevent the same questions asked over and over.

And since it is not an official FAQ: This is NO DEFINITIVE INFORMATION. Just what we, the players, know. The Devs may know much more, especially the question about NDA. Just wait and see, no use in speculating about it.

I dont think anyone was trying to give you grief. Just frustrating that fact and rumour are getting intermingled so easily in these threads, b/c you know... if its on the internet it must be real

Yeah, I know, but I've been mistaken for a PGI employee for two or three times now, so just wanted to get everything on the secure side, before things get out of hand.

For example from this thread:
