GRAY DEATH
I just thought that it would be cool if the HBK-4G could jump and then realized that I actually can make one! Well, the SHD-2H has quirks more suitable for a single AC/20 but it only has 1E hardpoint which means that it's not ideal if you want to bring medium lasers for backup. Either the GD or 2D would be good as an alternative but I chose the GD since I have sold my 2D.
Has anyone tried such build? What's your experience?

they are alrgiht, the problem i had was because of shadow hawk in general is taller than hbk, so they exposed more.
also, personally, i wouldnt load 1/2 t AC20 ammo, they are a waste
1t = 7 ammo
1/2t = 3 ammo
i would swap one of jj for another half, making it 1x 1t, instead of 2x 1/2t.

I've tried it and it does work -- if you can make the HBK-4G work, you can also make this work. The SHD-GD is a nice variant for this treatment as this 'mech needs to brawl and the GD gets the best structure quirks of all Shadow Hawks. Also the +25% ballistic velocity is really nice with AC/20.
Compared to the Hunchie you're a bigger target, but survivability doesn't seem worse to me. Hunchies have that "SHOOT ME HERE" point everyone focuses on, and that's not so bad with a Shadow Hawk which carries that badass gun a bit less obviously.
If I were to run this, I'd take the engine down to 270, since the 275 is a full ton heavier and you don't need the HS slot. I'd then use that extra tonnage to add some more AC/20 ammo, plus up-armour the shield arm a little bit.

Is the 2D/2D2 AC/20 builds from Metamech any good?

I just restarted playing the Shadow Hawks and I'm just waiting for the c-bills to build it but I'll try to remember to chime in if you're interested.
Probably gonna run it more like this: SHD-2D
4 tons of ammo for a single AC20 is just right, 3 feels like too few and I'm willing to sacrifice a couple kph for the extra potential damage.
