curb your need to kill steal then at the expense of your own mech by turning a few degrees left or right and then walk BEHIND the friendly mech - and NOT stopping as you cross over to A firing position on the other side of him.
This accomplishes two important things. One, it lets you use the firing mech as cover for return fire from the target, and two, you dont get the **** shot out of you by the mech thats trying to kill the enemy.
Ive seen FAR FAR too many friendlies doing the far less effective thing and trying to jump in front of a mech firing at the enemy in order to then shoot at that enemy, be it trying to get that kill, or a lack of battlefield awareness, only to get chewed up by the friendly thats BEEN firing at the enemy for five or six seconds at that point. THEN the guy that walked in front starts screaming at the guy who was already shooting (and probably zoomed in - that gives you ****** peripheral vision by the way) TKed him or destroyed his back armor on purpose.
No, YOU walked into HIS firing line and got yourself destroyed/cored. The EASIEST way to fix this is to simply walk behind them.
Tryin to help (for once)

What I see a lot of, is a a lot of pilots just have no trigger discipline, if I do my very best to keep my team damage as low as possible, usually below 5 points most game, even accounting for the twits that run across my firing lane when I have rounds out (AC/(S)SRM/Laser)....

me too. Ive been running a lot of direct damage types of things instead of running lrms so I can get better at aiming etc instead of running streak/lrm only as Ive done for the most part of the entirety of the history of the game lol
But Ive been seeing a HELL of a lot of people choosing to do the dumb thing of running into my firing line rather than doing the arguably smarter thing of running behind me (and using me for cover) to gain their own firing line. Especially if Im zoomed in with advanced zoom, because the peripheral vision reduction that mode gives, Im not gonna SEE anyone before they are getting hit by me.
And hell, I was feeling weird. I wanted to try to help for once lol

It's some of both, of course.
But what Buddah said is probably the biggest part of it. If I'm zoomed in and shooting at a target, and you start to walk in front of me, you're going to get hit before I can even see you. That's not a trigger discipline problem on my part.
I've TK'd Lights before that I never saw. In one instance it was because a Commando thought that standing in front of my King Crab's arm was a good idea. I had no idea he was there and just kept firing my UAC/5s, and he evidently just assumed I'd stop shooting so just stood there. And kept standing there as I continued to shoot until he was dead.

Once you get good with PPC's, you'll never want to use anything else. Looking at my stats, PPC's are some of my most accurate weapons, with peaking just slightly above 75% hit rate, when I combine cER/ER/normal PPC shot/hit ratios.

and to a smaller degree, the way advanced zoom doesnt QUITE line up the doritoes with the actual target youre firing at. Till I figured that out, I was 50/50 either shooting at friendlies or shooting at enemies because the doritoes dont line up right sometimes.
huh I have an idea...
went and posted that bit in a psa in the new player area lol

So I'm pretty much an assault pilot and more often than not in my 5 UAC5 dashi. What twists my noodle is when I have finally lumbered into a firelane and start letting loose hell, it never fails that I have to let up firing because some ******* wants to kill steal or face hug my target. It happens so frequently that I've stopped caring and just eat my penalty. How can these idiots not see the stream of never ending fire coming
Just boggles the mind

In Solo Q, I feel like the pied piper with a trail of folks following behind me in the winning matches. The losing matches have half the team still at the back of the map or "scouting DCs".
