Alright, so I'm looking for some good Nova build ideas.

Right now, I'm sporting a prime with S, left and right torso omnipods. I use these to help sport 4 machine guns with 3 ammo boxes.

I also carry 3 medium lasers, 1 small pulse laser per arm, with 2 double heatsinks on each arm.

Mouse button 5 is mapped to my left arm, mouse button 2 to my right arm, mouse button 1 is mapped to my machine guns. I tend to abuse mouse button 1, so having 2 and 5 mapped to the lasers on each arm, helps me to think of them as secondary weapons. The single pulse lasers help keep the heat down a bit, without sacrificing too much damage. Also, if I lose my arms, I still have machine guns to fight back with. Posted Image

These are likely horrible builds but it is what I've had the most success with

LPLx2

ERLLx2

ERMEDLx6

ERPPCx2

ERPPCx2 ERSMLx6

I own 4 novas. I manage only an 1.2:1 kill ratio with them, but here are my designs.

P - 6 erml
S - 6 mpl
D - 5 erml, SSRM-6 (2 erml each arm, 1 in rt, ssrm in lt)
B - 5 erml, lbx5 or uac5 (2 erml each arm, 1 in rt, ac lt)

Seems to be the only config fitting to my playstyle...

The best Nova build is a Hunchback-IIC.

For Nova-D:

If you feel like it (I do!), go for 7 ERSL.

Too bad they fixed chain-fired flamers. You could run on any map and if you set flamers to 1 group chain fired, assign Zero on num-pad to fire that group, tape key down to fire and tour the map, shootin fire like a concert pyrotechnic and heat never rises, unless your in lava. Then you blow up after the 10th shot w/ Override on.

otherwise 11 or 12 ersl are the way to go, everything else runs too hot with not enough punch to justify it.

Yup. 12 ERSL is an absolute killer knife fighter (but as with any Nova you should not forget how thin your armour and how wide your profile is). Get in, fire 6, pause 6 and get out without ever stopping. Or even better wait till your opponent is distracted and get behind them and fire 6 (30 pinpoint damage) in his rear center torso and then look for the next target for the next 6 lasers.

The jumpjets are also nice to get above a target and use the good arm range to cap his cockpit from above :D .

Another interesting build I have seen is a couple of flamers, small lasers backed up with MG's. Was actually very effective in the 4v4 scout match where I went up against it, as the lasers opened up armor, flamers shut me down and the machine guns kept him from over heating.

enjoying my 4cmpl and 4ersml. I can get a bit toasty on hot maps but I find the enhanced jump jets I have with the extra cooling power of the new skill system I am able to ninja jump lots from 400m ranges with my 4cmpl an scalpel in close with 4cersml's and able to keep the heat good because of it.

12 ER Smalls, 6 in each arm, Mk. I TC, heat sinks for the rest.

Fire 6 and 6, never all at once.

Done.

Wow thread necro.

The only Nova build I've run for several years now is with 9 SPLs (3 LA, 6 RA). I prefer the SPLs because I take it for scouting a lot and the short duration is nice for legging lights.

I wreck face with the NVA-PRIME, built with 4x machine guns in the ST's, and 4xcSPL in each arm with as many heat sinks as will allow. The downside is that you really do have to plan your approach pretty well in order to get close enough to wreak havoc, but I've never had an issue with it. You could also back off the MG ammo and add another heatsink.

Up until the skill tree update, I'd been running 12ERSL, Mk1TC, Active Probe, and 8 Heat Sinks. With the update, and loss of module range extension, I've adapted(not completely settled on this until I have a hundred matches or so in it to level out the stats) by running 6ERSL and 4ERML, Mk1TC, and 8 Heat Sinks.

Full Prime variant 10 medium lasers with 5 in each arm (you get all the heat reduction quirks that way while reducing the laser load).

Also on a full prime variant, go with 12 small lasers. Heat is very manageable, and you are extremely dangerous since you can pull off at least 3 or 4 volleys before risking heat issues.
