I was ...FAARRRRK, farrkin fleeeee!!! I limped behind a building but saw ur seismic heading towards me...
was like, GAWWRRDD, the big B@st@rD is chasing.

You had me cold, I was bouncing around like a mad bunny shooting you with my 1 spl that was left. It was pure luck that my team took you down 1st. After, with hands shaking and balls sweating, I thought, ok time to be gracious sooo...

Why would you need protection against the worst weapon in the game to begin with?

If lights actually spotted and fed back intel to the team, all power to them. Mostly, they do not.

As for long range sniping supposedly supporting the assaults, it doesn't. The only way you'll support my Dire is if you use your speed to draw fire away from my barn sized CT. That never happens either.

What about harassing? Sure, I'll give you that. Excuse my not giving two sh*ts about your effort as you let the red lights do the same to your teams fatties. Such a trade adds zero value to the team other than to score you individual cbills, which is a valid goal, but don't pretend it's for the teams benefit.

So you are saying, my whole purpose as a light is, to draw fire away from you and to protect you, so you can do the kills?

Well, first of all, when I do harrassing behind the lines, I do in fact draw fire away from you, because mechs who chase me, can´t fire at you.
And I agree, that some if not most lights and mediums should stay with the team ... but the benefit from me alone, keeping a whole enemy lance busy, is clearly worth the effort of someone less to protect your fat asses ...
And it might be, that the lights and mediums with the team don´t care enough about you, but that´s a completely different topic.

Oh and btw. did you ever did, what you demand from others?
Babysit assaults, so they can do the kills and have the fun?

I do that all the time in certain lights and mediums. It's actually quite easy to rack up good match scores just escorting the assaults. Everyone shoots at him, so you can just pump out damage (remember to focus fire on what he's shooting at). You win a lot more when you do simple stuff like that. That means more cbills, more xp, more kills (It's much easier to get kills when your team is winning and you survive to the end--hey, all the stragglers are yours), more everything.

Alright, if you're one of these amazing light pilots who can consistently solo backstab and rack up 500dmg and a couple kills, and your WLR for that chassis is very good, fine, keep it up. Otherwise, don't be surprised when you get called out for playing selfishly.

Even though there are certainly better players, I am very good I at that, yet get called that way. Hence this thread.
And yes, I know that sticking with the heavys can be fun, too. And I do that, too.
But when I choose to play in another role, it is my decision. And the purpose of this thread was simply to tell those ones complaining, that the purpose of ecm is more than just protect the main group.
And if they constantly find themself without ecm cover, they should think about, that maybe they should take the part of the ecm guardian and not insult other players with a mech simply not made for babysitting.

So, when a light and/or ECM mech expects me to lead a push in my assault, it's good to know I can tell them to get fu*ked and bring their own assault mech if they want that job done. Sweet.

Well...

If you're not being useless by doing something other than leading a push in your assault, then yeah you definitely can say & do that and be justified, although I'm curious what else you have in mind besides pushing.

Note that for the people who dislike the ECM snipers who like to scratch paint from 1,000m+ away, I don't support that either, and for the people that do that you should either start doing more damage or play another build.

man, I loved the 90m "nerf"

cause it sure as hell keeps light ECMs from knifing you in the back, just like "low signal" used to lol

As a missile lover, I was willing to trade better backstabbers for a harder to maintain ECM net over the enemy main body.

That and there's always the benefits of seismic modules.

When you're the only ECM on the team, and the enemy team has LRM support or Narcs... I expect that ECM cover. No ifs ands or buts. Starving the enemy from spawning red doritos is more important than you scratching an enemy at 800m.

Edit: now that I've re read your edit, I firmly believe you are tier 4. I think you underestimate the skill, mentality and discipline that a very good player has. Very rarely when I play, shooting an enemy in the back pulls half the group. They aren't AI

He's probably playing PUG games...he has no obligation to provide you ECM cover.

Your skills in math seems to match your understanding of greater tactics.

"Very rarely when I play, shooting an enemy in the back pulls half the group"
Half the group would be 6, which is not 3-4 what I said. And I wasn't refering to sniping, rather to medium range backstabbing with 6 ml.
42 Damage are enough to hurt Direwolfs ... so it happens quite often that a whole lance spreads out for me.
And even if they don't come after me ... every distraction I bring, breaks their focus from my bigger teammates.
Nobody smart ignores 42 damage in his back.
Those who do (more than you would think) are easy kills.

Oh and I am Tier 2 on constant rise btw.

Yeah, for sure I mean the PUG-Queue. In a clan you know and speak about your roles ... but in PUG you don't.
This is also kind of my point.
Don't asume that just because somebody has ECM, his role is automatically to provide cover for the main group.
There are many ways to play the game.
And of course you have kind of a moral obligation to help your team, wherever you can ... but you can also do so great behind the enemy.
But I won't repeat myself anymore.

Still this issue?
Don't worry yourself - those that complain that you didn't provide ECM cover - fail to see the obvious.

ECM is no longer a team tool....90m range - this is only for individual Mechs
The thing is still horrible but now its a senseless horrible thing Posted Image
want real ECM and information warfare - back to MWLL
