When you like flanking - don't cheat - don't use ECM.

Strange how using the item designed for stealth is cheating when trying to be sneaky.

Yeah, sure. I see LRMs in T1 matches all the time, and Narc increasingly so. Heck, I'm starting to see Narc in FW. There are some stupidly talented light Narcers out there, and their activity can have a huge impact on a match or a wave. Sheesh, I can't believe I'm getting lectured by sub-T1s to git gud. I don't expect anyone to "be a crutch," but I would prefer my teammates to contribute to team victory. But again, whatevs, do your own thing.

That's in great part due to the fact that people march into T3 almost without trying, and given enough playtime, T2.

Since the PSR system will even take the most basic of carried players upwards regardless of actual improvements, tiers are rapidly becoming meaningless other than "how long does it take me to get to the seal-clubbing area."

In MWO, they've decided to make the GECM the Invisibility cloak.

I don't disagree that it's derpy as heck, but as that's what it is in MWO, NOT using it is just being stupid. They don't call it Jesusbox for nothing.

Hmmm, 12 players on 1 team and 12 on the other.

Which team wins, the one that uses a bit of teamwork. I see way to many games where a good chunk of the team sits back at 500-600 meters because they are scared of getting their digital assets scratched. Mean while the other team balls up, takes out the aggressive players at the front and wipes the rest of said team ending with a 2-12 scoreline. Needs to have a module for mechs, Big Steel Balls.

Lesson - 12 members on a team and working together. My advice to the OP, stay with the team until engaged, used that ECM to provide cover on the way into the fight, once engaged go do your thing.

PS. the flanker/harasser can be very useful, just not all the time, need to pick when it is going to have the best effect and be useful, which is not all the time. Ask yourself, how many times have you gotten sub 200 damage doing what you are doing?

OP, you are entitled to do whatever you want with your ecm.

Asking other people to respect your decision is simply troll bait.

Seriously, fark them, they don't give a shiete about your enjoyment.
So why bother with their opinion?

Learning to ignore the dumdums and their noise by having a thicker skin is a great habit. You still get to do whatever you want with your ecm, and wring every drop of pleasure from their salty, cry-baby tears.

Completely agree. I do enjoy the taste of those cry-baby tears. Those poo poo heads can't make you do anything, they know it. Nothing they whine about can affect you, unless you let them and why should you?

OP, I only pilot ecm lights and frequently sneak flank, exactly as you describe. This is how effective I am ...

man, I loved the 90m "nerf"

cause it sure as hell keeps light ECMs from knifing you in the back, just like "low signal" used to lol

the entirety of the match can and usually depends on how much ecm you have and how many poor ******** are fumbling with lrms and trying to have fun

I remember that match! That was lucky indeed and I believed I sent a well earned, jaunty "haha" or "neener" over all chat.

Actually, it helps ecm lights backstab better.

The previous, wider, ecm radius would provide warning when I was close. Now, I can fire well within the 181m spl range and not give away my ecm, whilst previously I would have to switch ecm to counter.

All noobs and surats should be running ECM mechs. The magic jesus box is real. We all see the end of match scores, we all know you should be running ECM.

I only pilot ECM-Builds - because I really enjoy flanking and stealth attacks behind the enemy lines ... and I am a little bit annoyed by people, who DEMAND I should stay with the flock and provide cover for them.
Sure, ECM cover for the main group is nice and usefull for the team - but so are constant attacks in the back of the enemy shattering their formation and bringing confusion to them ... and therefore opening opportunities for a crushing rush for the main group (if they pay attention to the map).
So, if you really want ECM Cover: equip your own, or ask friends to bring some, who enjoy staying with the mass. (I sometimes, do, too)
But if you demand it from people like me, with not even a ¨please¨, like you have a right to do so ... you can be sure, no one wil listen to you ... and all you will achieve is flaming.
Thank you, for your attention ...

I'm fairly certain I wrote an almost identical post years ago.

You obviously did not go through Koga school.

Koga-Ryu hasn't been around for a while now, and you don't really hear much about Iga-Ryu either these days. I did a year of "unofficial" Koga-Ryu back in the 80's before switching to Goju-Ryu Karate for the next 20 odd years.

So, when a light and/or ECM mech expects me to lead a push in my assault, it's good to know I can tell them to get fu*ked and bring their own assault mech if they want that job done. Sweet.

I can understand why some people dislike the whole 900m away support flankers and ill admit i do it with a couple of my mechs mostly cause its one of the few things they are good at.

The 3ERLL-Shadowcat is an example, using that mech i have gotten several kills per match and usually support our heavies and assaults by aiming for weak points if able to disarm the opposition (or kill if able). At times when the end of the match is near and its a close call, ill rush out to my allies to be a target and to distract the enemy provided my armor isnt in shambles at that point to help secure a win.
It doesnt always work but its better than me trying to aim around a bunch of friendlies and getting stuck on them retreating from UAC-5's and PPC fire ect.

to put it bluntly...some mechs are better suited for long range harassment and scouting.

You are off point. This whole thread is about what some assaults/heavies expect of ecm mechs/lights, not the other way around.

I've never heard ecm lights ask assaults to push and I couldn't care less whether you push in an assault, hide behind a hill or DC. As an ECM light, I can make may own play independent of heavy/assault derpiness. I can range out and flank or stick with the fatties as I wish.

I have heard assaults rudely demanding I baby sit their bum. Most times, I ignore them but have indulged in the occasional "get fu*cked" as you put it, if I could be bothered milking their tears.
