Please for the love of whatever god exists in 3048, include some sort of battlerecorder-type capability, so that matches can be recorded and then replayed and broadcasted. This IMHO will greatly increase the "meta-appeal" of the game, giving would-be presenters the opportunity to make cool commentary videos of cool and/or important matches for tournaments, historical events or for just plain fun.

Second this!

This is one of my favorite things about the HL2+(CS:S, DoD, TF2, etc..) games.

I've been hoping something like that will be implemented. Especially if it is similar to the Source engine version where the whole battle is recorded and not just the player view.

Similar to C.O.D's replay system?

If this is implemented, I want it to be WW2 "gun camera" style, personally.

I don't know how cods replays system works. I specifically referenced the source engine games (L4D, TF2, CSS, HL2,L4D2, etc.) The only other games I know of that do that are the Il-2: Sturmovik games.

What it does it basically records all session data in a match, so that it can be viewed at any angle from any perspective. Like floating around as a spectator in a previously recorded match.

Then yes, that's what the Source version does as well, and if PGI has a Battler Recorder mechanic that is how I want it to work. Make epic films about the battles, and maybe news reels as well!

Thumbs up if possible. The Company of Heroes (CoH) game has a Replay mechanic and I watch matches daily/weekly, along with some very good added commentary via YouTube, and it adds immensely to that Genre.

Given, CoH is a Top/Down RTS but if doable MWO would benefit greatly indeed.

As long as it doesn't lag the game out to kingdom come if half the players on the field start recording. And there's always FRAPS as an alternative...

I'd love a battle-recorder, something like what Command & Conquer 3 had. It lets us replay matches, move around the map aiding in debriefs, helping teams to improve.

It'd be neat to capture any voice communications during the replay, too.

You have an excellent foundation for your suggestion. There's an in-universe battle recorder.

Two thumbs up for this!

ISN News Flash:

*rolling footage of initial Clan contact*

"These are the scenes of the mysterious invaders, who from what my sources tell me are wreaking havoc across the entire Inner Sphere, tearing into the Ninth Alshain Regulars. As you can see they are using mechs of unknown design along with some sort of heavily armored infantry. Who the invaders are or what they want is still unknown."

  :P  ^_^ :D :D :D Happy as a schoolboy!

Most games that include recorders nowadays record the entire match and everything that happens, allowing you to roam around while replaying and see everything, rather than just your perspective. And of course, this is how it needs to be; a free-roaming camera, chase cameras, etc.

hmm....this could be one of the micro-transaction things in the in-game store.

Have "film" (or I guess HoloDiscs, given the timeframe) available for sale that lets you record such and such amount of battle footage and post it for others to see.

Maybe even gain a smidge of pilot XP for reviewing battle footage.

Which could be handy for real. Like sports teams watch game films to review their performance as well as look at how their enemy performs, the same thing applies to the BT Universe.

"Looking at the tape it seems XYZ Company likes to deploy mostly mediums. Their light lances are reserved for scouting & mopping up. It seems they only activate their heavies when they are in a pinch."

This would be awesome. I was hoping for a dedicated spectator mode as well, perhaps only implemented on Solaris, or in matches where both sides agree. Or if it's part of an Esport, something with tactical information, analysis , etc etc. Used only by PGI or a reputable company and announcers.
Would love to see the rise of MW:O as an ESport.

I wouldn't mind that, though I would like the ability to dislodge my camera and set it onto some sort of "Fly-by" mode and from different angles.
Would be great for making Machinimas.

I want a battle recorder that records all of the choices made by the players so we can run all of those commands again to watch in our own private showing of the match. Also have multiple view angles to choose from and a free camera mode to help us movie makers. Awesome youtube videos could be made of the game with a battle recorder and so much easier than recording only your view of the battle.
