So splitting the small player base again will improve match times and lower the number of ghost drops?

They say in the patch notes it was forum whining that caused the split que and well it didn't work.

So keep crying and bitching and maybe you can get PGI to make more bad choices.

8v8 in quick play would push big groups into Faction Warfare where they probably should be playing and wouldn't affect the split that is already in effect.

If we got rid of group quick play it would push everyone into Faction Warfare when they grouped though....

I still prefer 12v12 in most cases, but I'm sure we could find a way to make 8v8 happen in some way even if only for certain smaller maps.

That being said I see number three brought up a lot in topics like this and I have a hard time understanding why this is a good thing. Sure, it can be frustrating knowing that no matter how much you channel John Rambo into your game play you are not always going to be the deciding factor of the match and I understand that. However, this game isn't nor should it be a game designed around individual performance. This is a team based game that you either win as a team or lose as a team. We need to be encouraging people to work together more rather than set things up so one person can more easily go on a streak killing the entire team.

There is no lore based unit around 8 mechs. You got a lance of 4 and a company of 12.....

Now 4 separate lances in a 4-way free-for-all, that would be interesting. Maybe special Brian Cache events..... :P "Win it for your house!"

CW is fine at 12v12 though

nah the real issue is they have 10 different factions

but only enough players for 2 factions

what they needed to do was reduce the number of factions from 10 to 2 and then they could easily keep the solo queue.

4v4 - CW Scouting

8v8 - PUG Quick Play with a max group size of 2 (so 2 friends can play together without getting stomped by larger groups)

12v12 - Group Queue and CW

Tbf this is why i still have hope for the flea. It can work, and 8v8 for fw could too. 2v2, 4v4, 6v6, 10v10 could each cover something different. Garrison defense, capital assaults, dustball command, im sure each could be worked into something valid eventually That would Not kill the game.

That drop ship mode i hear they're working on, is that already set in stone on the basis of... Well everything?

It should have been IS vs Clan. Maybe if PGI didnt stream themselves waiting for a CW drop they could give the split queue a chance. The split should have happened at the Steam launch. The Steamers left when they realised this game needed you to have played for years and put large amount of cash in the game to have fun. Because from my own observation, they would click Faction Play before Quick Play. Can't blame them, faction plays seems a lot more fun and it's only when youve played it that you grow to hate it.

One of the fun aspects of watching esports is seeing players playing the same game as you are, but at a "higher level". It's not a good sign when PGI is discovering that their game is not really balanced or well suited, in it's 'normal' state, to play competitive matches in. Also, when the game modes are so bland that they need to play Conquest instead of Skirmish, not for it's interesting game play but solely for the purpose of avoiding ties, it just makes me wonder what this game could have been.
