18 hours of Overwatch beta later and I find myself struggling to reach the target for this challenge.. :P

Overwatch is fun, but I don't think it will be able to hold my attention as long as MWO has.

To be honest 200MC for the grind of both parts by the tournement is a bit short.

The goals within scouting does not match how the gamemode is played best.

Invasion pretty much makes itself.

Had fun so far.

Yeah, waiting for the whole *but its so addictive!* phase to wear off. I also love playing MWO so it will most likely become a time out game when I feel like a MWO refresh..

After playing CJF for one week and FRR for half a week in the tournament I don't get all the whining about Clans bringing OP streak boats. Those things are truly irrelevant as long as you and your team know what you're doing.

They might be a bit over the top if you're solo scouting (PUG vs PUG) indeed, but from my experience this isn't how the scouting mode is meant to be played in the beginning. This probably is the most competetive mode PGI has ever given to us, so better treat it that way.

The other issue I have with the challenge is the number of intel points you have to gather. I completed all but that goal within the first 60 matches. At that point I was 40 or so away from 180. So now I am doing what other people where doing in my earlier matches. Getting as many intel points as I can, and to hell with the rest of the match. I want my free mech!

Yes that is a bad way to play, but the ridiculousness of that number, and the fact that in order to get a qualifying victory match score of 80 you have to brawl, make these two goals kind of work against each other.

In the end though, if is scout mode gathering intel and escaping should guarantee a match score of 80. I had several victories where I did under 50 damage, had a 50 match score, gathered 3-5 intel. And they did not help me in the least for the 30 victory goal. They also did not help me with damage and match score goals.

Enough rambling, I think my point is that while I enjoy this game mode and believe it has potential, I also don't think PGI knows what it is supposed to be or how to manage what actions get rewarded.
..

I solved this problem with a Spider 5D http://mwo.smurfy-ne...e3d1f870be8ce11 you can use other light too but JJ and ECM are better.

I've done some dedicated match only to gather Intel; if you have to attack just grab all the intel you can, then hide in a safe place near the drop zone, wait for the ship and move in the last seconds, despite the enemy number you will win if the timer reach 0 and you are in the square.

In defense the same as before grab all intel you can to increase your event counter and decrease the benefit in case of enemy victory, then help your mates as you can.

Doing this you can reach an average of 8-10 intel per match.

Streak crow can be a problem only if you are in range, if you see one just evade the fight, Cheeta can be good cookies if you lure them out from friendly help, don't worry if they shooting you, the more the shoot the more the heat, just use obstacles, go zig zag and use torso twist to spread damage; after a while just turn back and fight until they overheat.

I reach 18 victory in 30 match but I have to admit I was lucky to found some little premade group in my team or fighting against other pug.

To get better chance play after a ceasefire to avoid enemy bonus (Long Tom!), change planet when you play a match against big organised unit and avoid planet where lot of territory are fall to the enemy (means that a big unit or some organised groups fight for that planet).

Anyway I have to say 15 wins in Invasion for a pug are really random; all depend from who is on your side and who are in the other; I hope next time PGI will reconsider the number of victory keeping in mind not all players are in a organized unit.

Its because the FW is filling with players who aren't used to anything BUT quick matches because the event only has FW rewards (unlike all the past events going back to NYE that had both regular quick folk challenges and event theme specific challenges, like the scoreboard ones for the defender, tomahawk, gladiator and glaug releases... Posted Image

So you're stuck with morons filling out teams, who don't know the other maps, and don't pay attention to shall we say, suggestions over VOIP on tactics. You also get people who have ego's because all they do is FW barking orders at others not in their unit and swearing at them like they were drunken irishmen, like that will somehow get them to help. I did one game where someone was barking orders, and insulting some of us for trying to open BOTH gates... so as to make the enemy divide their forces up...and instead just kept charging the one open gate each drop. And he picked the gate with the side that had the worst bottleneck killzones to try and attack through.

I'm at 5 victories as a result for 29 invasions. However in that time I got 32 of 60 KMDD, 358 out of 400 KAs, 19k/25k damage, 3240/5000 match score, 57k/80k XP, and already have my 10 mil c-bills.

There's also the folks who ***** if you say bring LRMs (especially on some of the I.S. loyal units) to FW because some maps don't suit them at all due to interfering terrain, and they will again, insult/swear at players who don't build meta mechs just for FW and follow copy their designs. This turns off the other players who are using the same mechs that work for them in quick games, and just leaves them standing around letting the team die because they'd rather not help such ingrates. I mean some folks will say stuff over VOIP from the safety of their living room / basement / whatever that would leave them toothless if they said that to someone in person.

Ironically... LRMs are a great way to increase your kill assist numbers. One match I got 36 assists.

And while a 295XL might have worked in one of my existing mechs, I'm pretty meta when it comes to building engines wise... why stop at a 295 (other than mech engine rating limits) when a 300 lets you hide another heat sink in the engine space.

Well, if there's 1 thing I learned from a few years of Mechbuilding in MWO: Always keep at least 1 engine of each rating. I think I sold the first XL295 I ever got, but had to re-buy when I discovered Firestarters. Even more; if you're not going to fit all slots with DHS, tune it down from 300 to 295 and save another half ton.
Same for an XL255, fits nicely in that 4X Cataphract and Spiders alike.. So now I only sell duplicates, or those that weigh the same as a BETTER rated engine (XL290).

(and even then, the XL295 and XL300 are so usefull I have 1 extra of those..)

I'm so fed up of this event... Playing match after match, not caring anymore about what's happening in battle... The more i play, the more **** i do. I'm basically burned out playing... And i haven't yet completed enough challenges for a single top reward.

This event is a marathon, exactly the kind of event that made me stop wot. You feel compelled to play because the rewards are attractive, but the amount of games you have to play is just too much for enjoyment. It's turning more and more into a job instead of a game. I have 2 months premium activated, but i don't think i will use them, i will probably do a looooooooong break after event.

Even before battle starts, i'm already on my nerves, and quick to anger at anything. I end most of my games throwing my keyboard on desk with frustration... BTW, who do i send my next keyboard bill to?

Yet, i will keep playing, because stopping before getting anything worthwhile would make all this pain suffered for nothing.

The event is voluntary, so just play casual quick matches if you are burnt out. I personally like events like this one that are actually a challenge and not just a participation trophy just for logging in.

What´s up with IS pilots?, since yesterday they seem to be gone... thought they were served and pleased with their quirks and new mechs.

Now that the game is finally balanced (or not), would have been nice to see another constant event that not only lasts a weekend but continues through more than seven days.

For now, waiting times at Faction Play continue to be extremely slow for most of the day. Posted Image

If you have reached this state, you really should stop and re-assess what you are doing and how you can improve your game experience. You do recall Einstein's definition of insanity right?

And yet PGI keeps setting unrealistic goals for those with a Real Life, which usually includes some form of responsibilities that conflict with MWO. They definitely set the 'Required Victories (with 100 Match Score)' at least 33% too high. PGI should have only asked for '20 Victories for Scouting', and '10 Victories for Invasion', because that is one of the ones wrecking people's minds. I'm personally not too sure about the others yet. -_-

It is free stuff, you have 10 days and personally, I do not view getting all the goals to be the objective of playing the game. Play the game, get bonus stuff.

If I cannot do them all, it is not the end of the world and certainly is not worth getting my blood pressure up. To be honest, I have 100% Scouting, 50% of Invasion on my IS account and 30% on both Scouting and Invasion on my Clan account playing both solo and in groups.

I do not think I am playing more than normal at this point although I may step it up during this weekend and on Monday .... provided I can find the time. If not, I will be happy with what I got.

Having said that, I agree that 80 intel points is kinda stupid and having KMDD, Kill Assists and Damage as objectives is unbalanced. It might have been a better idea to have:

X Intel points, Y KMDD or combination of both as one goal
X Intel points collected by Team, Y Assists or combination of both as one goal

Not sure what can be paired up with Damage but the general idea is something from Gather and something from Protect would have made more sense for Scouting.

I do not agree with all the complaints about unbalanced mechs. The ways to deal with them, if in fact an disparity exists, have been provided.

Almost done with scouting, and I have worked almost every day of the challenge. I'll be working through the next few as well. For those complaining that you can't complete the goals it is possible. Focus on a section of it and use an optimized mech. Hope to see you all on the battlefield.

This goals are possible to reach, kinda. But some of them in a really ****** uped tiresome way. And it's demanding a lot of time, that most of the players don't have at their disposal. Very unbalanced comparing to Invasion mode goals.

If people want to "balance" FW, then mercs should not be able to take contracts with the Clans per BATTLETECH lore, since using mercs was considered dishonorable by most of the Clans (Wolf's Dragoons do not count since they were originally a pre-invasion recon force).
