It seems like a few times a week we see the "Stupid match maker" or "GG close stupid rofl-stomps" threads. We all know them by now, the poster lamenting a string of matches where their team was rolled horribly. In fact I may have posted one of these threads myself at some point.

Today though I had a string of eight wins so I thought I'd share. Pure PUG of course. I'm smack in the middle of tier three so I get to see it all, from the four machine gun King Crabs to the pinnacle of the meta. I also get to see all manner of player ability. I had a team mate in a CTF who somehow managed to survive through the entire match without firing a shot. He wasn't hiding, he was in the midst of everything yet somehow did zero damage. I also witnessed a WHM-BW with dual ppcs and UAC5s absolutely destroy everything. This was a recognizable, bigtime, long term player but still, the match they had was sublime.

So even in PUG matches I had eight wins in a row.

Today I was rocking one of my favorite mechs, the TBT-LG. I've never been one who will allow common sense to enter alot of my choices so I play mechs that I have fun with. So yup I was out there in a mech that most people wouldn't be caught dead in. Their corpse would jump up and crawl out of that mech. Yet I love it. Two MPLs, 4 SRM4s. Quite speedy and with jumpjets. Sure the GRFs have all of that, and five tons more. And better hard point placement. And arms that don't fly off the first time a red triangle pops on the screen. I own all of the GRFs, it is just I prefer the Trebs.

Eight wins. With PUGS. And a sub optimal mech.

In two consecutive matches out of the eight I did 60 damage and 167 damage. Even my own mother will likely dodge my phone calls for the next while. Now to be fair in the other matches I was happy with what I contributed, but I have lost games where I have played better...... no doubt about it.

Yet eight wins, no defeats. PUGS, a Trebuchet and questionable play at times.

Now here is where I hope to come up with something profound or worthwhile to keep this thread from heading to K-town before I sober up. I'm closer to fifty years old then I am to forty. I've been around this BattleTech thing for a long time. I consume pretty much anything that involves this IP so for as far as computer games goes, this is one of our very few options. I play the hell out of MegaMek and I'm greatly looking forward to what HareBrained are up to. And I still play MWO even though at times I am forced to wonder about where this game is heading and just how some decisions are made. I mean I am REALLY forced to wonder.

Yet here I am hoping to counter the complaints about the matchmaker. For every player that suffers a loss another has a win and I think we forget that at times. And I think that if we are honest with ourselves we will acknowledge that we get carried in more matches then we think.

Today is awesome. They allowed players that aren't in a unit back into CW.

I didn't have a single ghost drop, but one match went to 60s until.

Faced MS with a pickup group and wasn't totally slaughtered.

Picked up six kills in one CW match in a dumb old DDC.

Ranked up with Kurita and didn't even know I was close.

10/10 would recommend today to everyone.

Had a blast playing some dozen games, wins and losses, don't count them things, but had a blast with toting around the IS AC20.

Moved to a different mech toting the AC20 and was having a hard time hitting things...

Checked quirks, no velocity quirk, tiny cooldown quirk.

So either go back to playing the first mech or spend dozen games learning how to use the weapon again... ended the playing day there.

Good to hear you had good/lucky games, OP. Getting carried occasionally is indeed a refreshing experience.

Good to hear! I had a really good string of games in my TDK the other night. I had a blast. Made like 6 million cbills in one sitting
Regarding the 4mg KGC, you still see that stuff in T1 matches. It doesn't go away lol... I saw a catapult with a single LRM20 + Artemis. That's it. I proceeded to chew off his legs and laughed and laughed... Then a Black Knight with 3 PPC's. Really makes you wonder hahaha...

There are good days and there are bad days.

Hell, the other night I had a string of losses where I felt like was having my face sliding against the asphalt road as the matchmaker bus pulled me to the next rest area.

But then there are the funny moments, like when you come across a clone of your mech. Same paint job and everything. And when you begin to fight, you realize they have the same play style. It really messes with your head. Glitch in the matrix.
